Recent studies have shown that SOME of the antibodies to HCV fade over the years, but a few antibodies seem to persist to ten years and beyond.  No real definitive reason for why...some think the persistent HCV after SVR may keep the antibodies going...others think it is the 'memory' of the viral particles and remnants causing this.  That said, a certain small percentage of SVR's seem to eventually lose all the antibodies to HCV, after many years.  I do not remember the percentage, but it was pretty low.

The antibodies themselves won't hurt you....but they may also indicate that there is more going on than meets the eye...or PCR in this case!
