Mr. Bill

Thanks, I really dont understand much of this test. Anyhow, I am relieved the result of my second test and I think this what you are trying to get into (language)... cut off count is .451 - the count which my second test shows was .452.

Diet and timely taking the prescribe medicine (Essentiale Forte) helps me a lot.

Thanks for all this info, its really great being part of this Site.

Raytags, the definitive test for active HCV virus is the ‘HCV RNA by PCR’ test. This will have a result that says something like ‘HCV RNA Quant 2,300,000’ or it might only say that you are positive for HCV RNA/negative for HCV RNA.

The RNA is live virus; antibody only indicates exposure.

HCV treatment consists of weekly injections of interferon and twice daily pills of the oral drug ribavirin. Both are expensive drugs.

Hi Mr. Bill

Thanks for the info, I dont have much info regarding the test. They have shown me only figures which is .421 according to the doctor is normal level. yes it is HCV antibody testing, my result is .426 and my second test was still reactive after two weeks of taking Essentiale 40. I couldnt give you more info regarding the second test right now.

I love to hear your idea regarding how to fight this virus and get thru on this.

Ray

Hi Raytags—

Can you provide more info regarding the test? I don’t recognize the numbers; they don’t look familiar to me. I am guessing this involves HCV antibody testing, yes?

If so, HCV antibody testing is not always specific for infection; it is associated with false positive results, and remember that 15-20% of those exposed will defeat the virus in the first six months of infection.

If there is more language in the test results, perhaps you can clarify test name, etc.

Good luck—

Bill

You need to give more info, but whatever the test... if .421 is normal and your result was .426, you don't have anything to worry about. You are only 5/1000th over normal. That is a VERY small number.

If you test positive for antibodies, but have NO virus, it means that you do NOT have hep c. You contracted it somewhere along the way and you were one of the ca 35% lucky ones who cleared the virus themselves.

Congratulations!
