Starting tomorrow, ? s

Diagnosed last yr, Type 3a, think I got it 5 yrs ago in a transfusion in Europe.

Starting Pegasys  and Ribavirin tomorrow. I have a morning appt with the clinic to get my first shot. I picked up the prescription on Friday.
The Dr did not tell me but I am supposing I need to take the Ribavirin in the morning before I leave (will be gone half the day for my appt).

Is that advisable or is there any reason why I should wait for my first shot before taking the pills?

Getting a bit anxious. Thankful my husband is coming with me so I don't have to drive.

Hi there,

I started my treatment last Friday, so it has been 3 days, and still no sides.  I have been drinking a lot of water, 100 oz each day, and like Trinity said, eating some fat with  the meal before I take my Ribivirin.  My Hep C has made me pretty tired and so if the treatment is also doing that I would not know it.  I am not sick, no fever, nothing.

It appears there are many different reactions to this.  You may be like me, but just know that many have gone before you and those who post here say it has all been worth it.  I'm confident you will do just fine.

Take care,

Jazzy

Good luck with your treatment.  Take your morning dose of ribavirin with breakfast or some type of foods with a little higher fat content because the is riba absorbed better that way.  Some people pre-dose ribavirin several weeks prior to beginning the interferon.

About an hour or so after your injection pop a couple of Tylenol because you may experience mild flu like symptoms so make sure you keep your body hydrated.  Some never do experience fever or body aches after the first shot and those type of side effects may appear later in their treatment.  In any event, be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

We are all a little anxious when we first start treatment but in time you will become and old pro at it.

Wishing you the best
Trinity
