can my 15 year old daughter have contracted my hep c?

My 15 yr. old daughter has never touched a drink, drug, or cigarette, and is not sexually active. She has just been diagnosed with an enlarged spleen and liver. I think she may have contracted my hep c. Does this sound like hep c to you?

My question is this:  have you ever had your daughter specifically tested for HCV over the years, in light of your being infected?  I would think that could provide some insight into the situation, if she had been tested.  Were you infected, and aware of the infection when your daughter was born?  I would think that if so, she would have been tested at some point in the first year or so, after birth?  As for the current situation, I would say that a simple HCV antibody test should quickly provide you with some answers, or at least rule in or out the HCV possibility.

There is a 6 % chance that a baby may contract hep c during birth. 4% for boys and 8% for girls. Sharing razors, nail clippers, toothbrushes also carries a small risk.

Get her tested. It could be. Then again it could be many things. She should be tested for hepatitis a, b and c. And if she has an enlarged Liver she should be going to a Gastro (GI) at the very least.
