I don't know the answer to your second question regarding radiation and dyes, but in answer to your first question, any type of narcotic pain medication or pain medication with acetominophen is going to add extra burden to your liver because your liver cannot filter these well. I would recommend looking into alternative pain management as OH recommended (meditation, yoga, massage, stretching, music therapy, etc.).

Is it safe to get an xray or mri during tx. Wouldn't the radiation and dyes be bad for me right now?
It's not ok in my state but I know for sure it doesn't help my pain. Is this something my gastro might treat or would he send me to a pain dr? Medicare doesn't pay for drug tests and I can't afford to take one every month to get my rx. Mt pain was pretty severe before tx and what I was taking would help most days, but now I run out a couple days early every month and even then I can't find an acceptable level of pain throughout the month. When I run out now, I lay in bed and cry for 2 or 3 days because it hurts so much to move. I really think it's the scoliosis acting up because it's the same pain just so much worse (which I didn't think was possible).
Yes, indeed. I could feel within a few hours of my interferon shot, my muscles contracting, tighter and tighter.
Any pre-existing pain is more likely to intensify during tx
One week, when nothing was working, my stretches, walking, ointments etc, to relieve my back pain a friend with chronic back pain gave me a cannabis brownie. It tasted so good I ate 3 !
That put me to sleep. Though I almost stumbled and fell on my way to the bathroom in the night, in the morning, though I was still very very tired, ALL the pain was gone.
My muscles were so very relaxed, I became a believer.
After that I started eating a brownie after my shot each weekly shot.
I know this may not be available in your state, but I thought I'd mention it, perhaps for anyone else in need of relief of pain during tx.
Treatment affects all of us in different ways. I happened to be one who had a lot of joint and muscle pains and aches. It seemed like everything hurt in some way. My back hurt too. Plus the pain seemed deeper, more in the bone. And all of it was worse on treatment than I had before Tx. However, things eased up some during the last 20 weeks of Tx. I am now 11 weeks post EOT and I feel great. Even all of the pain, aches, muscle, back, and joint problems (which I had before I even started Tx) are gone, vanished.
I do think a lot of people have worse problems on Tx than when not on Tx. However, best to get it checked out since it could be something else.
Well, I only know that joint and muscle pain is listed as possible side effects, of the Interferon. Is the pain worse, afer your Interferon shot?
My neck and backpain got better, during (and now after) Treatment, but I now seem to have an arthritic condition in my joints. I was starting to get problems with my joints before my Treatment (my shoulder had been sore, and then my strernum/clavicle bone just popped out, a week before Tx) and the Treatment has made it much worse.
