It's not too bad, they took 3 sections from mine. I had a pain killer before the procedure then was joking with the doc while he did it...listen to their directions...its the laying on your side part that stinks.
can anyone tell me how to write a profile on this forum? (feeling a little dumb but hey) thanks!!!!
sorry about empty post, i agree with pigeonca, it is boring afterwards, and although i didn't have to lie on my side for that long, having a way to pass the time pleasantly is so helpful.
Right after the needle jab, I felt an intense pain in my shoulder. The doc immediately gave me a shot of pain killer, and that did the trick. The hard part is lying on your side for the next 3 hours. Bring a Walkman or I-pod, 'cause you'll be in an uncomfortable position for reading. And if you feel any pain, ask for something. Medical people often don't volunteer a remedy until you say you need it. Ask!
hi, just found this wonderful forum. had a biopsy about a week and half ago, still waiting for results and 'a plan' but contrary to the build up for the biopsy....the instructions tell you to not eat ot drink anything after midnight, you will not be able to drive yourself home etc. etc. i found that the actual procedure was fairly painless (a local of lidocaine to numb the insertion site) and then some pressure, thank God I felt fine afterwards and realized that the anxiety of the whole thing was much more decisive as to whether I had a 'good' experience. my nurse was fantastic, and walked me throught the whole thing, stayed at my side during the biopsy and we talked about ice cream, gefilte fish, and what was growing in my garden. the distraction helped tremendously, and although the radiologist missed the first time, he repeated it and got this very tiny bit of liver. i thought it seemed like alot of fuss AFTER the whole thing was over, the pain was not great, getting dental work done is much more painful, but i guess the whole experience depends on the support that you get when you are there. hope you have a calming and competent nurse or support person ... and the actual biopsy takes a few minutes.....
Thanks there yall.. I guess iam apprehensive.. sorry to ask so much..Do they sedate ya at all? .
chill - it can be a little uncomfortable --- but overall - not too bad...
