hi tony, it is SO SO SO important for him to stop drinking, and also important to not overdose on any medication.  the liver is important in eliminating toxic wastes from the body and also has huge involvement in fat processing, iron storage, and fat soluble vitamin storages.  mantain a healthy diet, and drink lots of water.

is he also diagnosed with hepatitis c?

best of luck to you and yours

Does he have Hepatitis C?
We can be sure from the information you have given that he has advanced liver disease.
From the little I know about your fathers case it would appear that a life saving liver transplant is indicated.
For this he would require a lengthy evaluation and would have to stop drinking.
Liver tranplants are not given to practicing alcoholics.
I am sorry not to be able to give you more comfort-the best thing you can do is have him seen by a specialist hepatologist at a major hospital.
Good luck to both of you!
