dosage question

hello ,

i will start soon my therapy with victrelis.
on my last therapy i used pegintron and rebetol.the dosage was depending on my weight.

today my doc told me that i will be on pegasys and copegus 180 mikrogr.(pegasys) and 1000 mg copegus.
i wonder if this dosage isnt to high as my weight is 56 kg.
what are your opinions about this?

thanks for some input

Your doctor has created his own hybrid by using Merck's Victrelis but replacing Merck's rebetol/pegintron and their dosing recommendations with the correct dosing for pegasys/copegus if it was used with Incivek.

Personally although this is off the beaten path I don't see a problem with it because many people experience less side effects with pegasys but the efficacy is similar. Copegus and Rebetol are the same drug but the weight basing for Copegus is 1000 mg per day if you weigh less the 75kg.

Since you have relapsed in the past perhaps more ribavirin might be beneficial if you don't become anemic but of course Victrelis is known for increasing the chance of anemia and it would seem prudent to monitor your blood often if you go with your docs recommendation. Did you become anemic last time?

We are not professionals, and this is only my opinion obviously so take it with a grain of salt. I am sure you will find others who disagree.

Good luck with your treatment!
Dave

My weight 114 and they have me on 1000 Reba. If this anemia does not settle down soon we are dropping the dose.
