elevated level??

Hi~I am a 27 y/o female who just had a physical done.  My physician called last week and said one of liver levels were elevated.  I'm not even sure which one she said....something like your count is supposed to be 45 and mine was 90.  She then sent me over on Wed. to get a blood test for Hep A, B, & C.  I do drink beer on the weekends.  And I had alot of it on the Sat. night before I got my blood work done on that following Mon. morning.  Do any of you think this could be the reason for the elevation.  I won't get my other results back until next Wed. and I am afraid something is wrong.  Although I know I don't have hep b, because I just had my second child and was tested for that on those labs.  I have only been with one person, my husband, my whole life.  Never had any needles or anything else done like that.  Am I worrying for nothing?  I've read alot of the current posts and I think mine level was elevated because of the alcohol consumption??  Just wondering.....thanks in advance for all of your help!!!

Don't worry till you get results. I know that that is hard to do, but you could be stressing for nothing. It could be the alchohol, or something else. I am 27 years old, and have hep C. I found out also during physical. I was drinking alot, at the time, and alt's came back 113. Last couple months, no drinking, alt's are around 80. There are other reasons for high alt levels also, like fatty liver, and certain drugs.Just wait to see what your doc says, and keep your head up.

maybe Indy can join the board of directors?

It is not a new concept, as even MDs have tried it, but I need to be reminded of the benefit sometimes...

Don't invest too much energy into worry or panic. These enzyme levels can fluctuate quite a bit. Some people have an enormous spike when taking Ibuprofen, for example.

Take it easy, wait for the results, and move on to the next thing. Don't waste any precious time with anxiety - it never helps.

God bless!  -Michael

It is possible for your elevated levels to attibuted to alchohol; these levels ALT etc. are a flag that your liver is being overworked. I was drinking pretty heavily when I was discovered to  have HCV. I was into the 500-700 ranges though. If I remember right, 3 weeks of continued elevated liver function levels is normally the indicator to Drs. to have you tested for Hep C. My initial Dr. told me on Christmas Eve that due to 4 weeks of elevation, I most likely had the Hep. Do not take your results lightly and if you do find out you are infected, you should be genotyped and have a liver biopsy to determine the proper treatment for you. Let's hope it was due to drinking, but you might consider stopping until you are sure or not if you have the virus. Good luck~Neal~

Your in my prayers....We think my husband got Hep. C in the Navy when he got a few tattos over seas, but who knows. I wonder about Dental work years ago when they didn't heat sterilize everything & everyone becoming blood brothers. I'm praying you don't have Hep. ....but if you do know it could happen to anyone. Waiting is so scary, I know, we've all been through that part.. The blood test results will be definitive so hang in there. The elevated levels may be from the alcohol consumption but it won't be much longer til you know for sure...
Best of luck to you.
