Just getting ready to start treatment w/copegus. Platelet count is 94k and doctor is already worried about having to reduce dose even before starting. He mentioned Hepagin as a possible solution. Can't seem to find anything on the drug. Has anyone any experience with this?

Perhaps he meant Procrit or Epogin? These help with anemia.

  Hi, I started treatment with my platelets at 88 and they dropped to 30 at one time. My Dr. is one of those who was willing to let me go pretty low  before a dose reduction. My platelets had been low for 3 years already and he said that I really needed to treat regardless of my count. Have you had a biopsy to see how much liver damage you have?    Good luck and no sky diving....-Libby

I have not had a biopsy.  I was diagnosed as Genotype 2.  Two Doctors have told me a biopsy wasn't necessary, as treatment would be required no matter what the results of a biopsy were.  If treatment fails, then a biopsy would be done.  Where are you in your treatment?  Did you have any problems when your platelet count got down to 30?  Thanks a lot.
