"Also, I've never heard of HCV spontaneously clearing up. It needs to be treated, not ignored."
Of every 100 persons infected with HCV about:
55%-85% of persons may develop long-term infection
70 persons may develop chronic liver disease
5-20 persons may develop cirrhosis over a period of 20 to 30 years
1%-5% of persons may die from the consequences of long term infection (liver cancer or cirrhosis)
HCV affects an estimated 123 million people worldwide with more than half of existing cases and more than 90 per cent of new cases occurring in IDUs. About 20 per cent of patients spontaneously clear the infection.
Hi,
I am new here also and have had hep c for over 20 years. All of those symptoms apply and are normal. Some feel them worse than others. Everyone has a different pain threshold. When cofronted with a problem research everything to find the answer.
I am hoping this forum is more welcoming than others i have visited.
Some say having hep c is accompanied with flue like symptoms. Most can be curbed by diet and exercise. I don't claim to know it all but have a pretty good idea after 28 surgeries and hep c over 2 decades. Stress mangement is key also. All the worry in the world will not add another day to your life. Always liked that one.
Be well
Dan
I just found out I have HCV. I am one for the few Acute cases but I had all those symptoms plus jaundice. They have since went away and I am now waiting to see if I spontaneously clear this. Fingers crossed that I do even though I know the chance for that is slim.
I am new to the forum but an old Hep C patient for many years. I was scared also when I was diagnosed. I have had all those symptoms. Have you had a liver biopsy yet?
