i am in need of help with hep c ... can anyone know any place in TX or OK or LA?
As usual, this is a wonderful group!!!
my husband just got accepted for the aid his meds will be arriving tomorrow fedx he starts treatment in june after he goes back to drs
Roche (Pegasys)
1-866-247-5084
When I decided to extend treatment to 72 weeks my insurance company denied it saying it was "experimental". I thought I was out of luck.
Committment to Care not only gave me all the meds for free - WHILE I was watiing for all the paperwork to go through and get approved they gave me a MONTHS worth of medicine so I wouldn't get cut off and wreck my course of treatment!!! I simply couldn't believe it.
All you really have to do is show that your insurance denied your coverage and bam...approved. They were not even really concerned about the amount of money I make or anything.
Then every month the meds just came to my house...all I had to do was make sure the doctor had written the script and that I called their "pharmacy" to refill it and it would come in two days.

Procrit has a patient assistant plan as well if you run into trouble with anemia.
It looks like a lot of the drug companies are doing this so it's well worth the time and energy to check all their websites.
this one works good for many different by drugs/manfacturer/states, follow the link certain income criteria may apply, usually brief form needs to be completed by physician, if unable to see regular doctor, go to a low cost or free clinic, with the application in hand, or tell the doc you will need the assistance and get the application to him later, i have referred a client there before and its as simple as the doc signing you need the meds, and faxing to the pharm, supposed to be anyway. i don't know how meds are acquired, they might be mailed directly to you or the doctor for dispensing to you.
good luck to your friend.
check out the list of what might be covered, it is pretty extensive.

Needymeds.com is a great place to look into. It
Schering-Plough (peg-intron) has Committment to Care, which offers support during tx and provides meds free of charge to those who qualify--800-521-7157.
Roche (pegasys) may offer the same; their web site is http://www.pegasys.com/
I had health insurance, but no prescription coverage when I was diagnosed and was able to obtain meds from the Committment to Care program. No way I could afford them myself!
Hope this helps your friend.
Grandma's right. You can get help for interferon and ribavarin through Peggassist from Roche and Be in Charge from Sherring-Plough. Some liver clinics and doctors can help thier patients get meds for free.
Also try these web sites for more info.
