ALT'S AST'S

My Doctor still has me on a partial 2/3 dose of pegasys.   My 3 month PCR said UND.  My concern is this last lab showed my ALT and AST rose from the previous week.
12/13     AST 27    ALT  23
12/20     AST32     Alt  28

Does this mean its gaining control and comming back or is this normal for them to rise and fall.   I just tried to call them and they all have left for the day.  I guess I have to wait until next week to see what they say.

I posted to you more in detail on your previous post on the same question, but briefly, what you describe are normal variances and to be expected on tx. Not to worry.

Happy Holidays!

I'd say it's normal for them to rise and fall, for sure.  And those values look great to me!  I think you can rest easy and have yourself a wonderful Christmas!

Should add that if you're concerned about the virus coming back, simply ask for another viral load test. That's the only way to really find out and there's no reason you can't be tested more often than at the usual 12, 24 and 48 week marks -- especially when you go on a reduced dose of meds. If the doctor tells you that insurance won't cover the tests, call the insurance company yourself because often the doctors have no idea what a given insurance company will pay or not.

Dilly you ARE a dilly!

That little tiny rise is NOTHING! IN fact when it happened to me and I RAN down to the doctors office and demanded an immediately new PCR and he told me I was off my rocker...I realized - whoo hoo weare all CRAZY :)

Seriously I've been there and well...it's normal. Now if they go up to 100 or something I'd worry (and yes I did too when it was me) but it was needless energy burned and stress on my liver.

Considering mine were in the 200s pretreatment and I'd never worried abuot them before it just goes to show........

We are NUTS :)

They have me going in weekly for a normal blood draw for my WBC.  I talked to my new insurance company that starts in 07 and the person said that they will usually do what the doctor perscribes.  I may talk the NP next week and ask if they can give me back the full dose of Pega (again) and if it falls to 3.0 then lets get me on neuprogen.   They are going to call her anyway to verify the shipment of meds and maybe she can ask at the same time.   I just want to beat this thing once.  I feel for those that it sneaks back.  I am afraid with them dorking with the meds I could end up with the same boat.  Maybe I  am being to much of a panic since it did come back UND

I guess anything moving anywhere but down sends me in a panic.  I guess I need to chill out.
You have a wonderful holiday with your kids and other family and friends.  You have earned it girl.  We have a Christmas party tonight and a family one tomorrow night.  Sunday will be quiet (hip hip horray).  My son and girlfriend will be comming over Monday for the usual ham, potatoes, rolls, green beans etd.  Then of course presents.

That's fairly common, but for some reason many doctor's treat more frequent viral load testing as something that is coming out of their own pocket. The newer trend is for earlier and more frequent viral load tests. Jensen, over at the Clinical Options site, talks about MONTHLY viral load tests during treatment. My doctor also recommended monthly viral load tests and I never had an insurance problem, even when I did WEEKLY viral load tests for the first six weeks of treatment until I became non-detectible.
