My understanding is even when you are cured, you will test positive (reactive) for antibodies. In order to know if the virus is back you will need to do a
HCV RNA test which will let you know if the HCV virus is detected and what your viral load is (if it is back).
Being that there are very good treatments available now, I would have the test done just to be on the safe side.
Good luck!

There will always be presence of HCV antibodies even though you are no longer infected with the virus.
I thought I would add to my prior post that being cured of the virus does not guarantee that someone can not be reinfected. Precautions should be taken to prevent a reinfection. There is no vaccine available yet for the prevention of contracting Hep C.

I: Listen to Nan on all counts! Even if you have to pay for the test yourself, it is worth it to KNOW what is going on, for sure. If you have a good dr (and Ins) you might not have to pay anything.
Also, I think we tend to forget about the possibility of reinfection, but most of us have gone through such times, that we try to take care of ourselves, anyway, however, it NEVER hurts to hesr it said.
I keep hearing that there will be a vaccine in the future, which is wonderful, but I am so glad the main focus seems to be on finding a cure. Pat
