Wow you two are my  new heros!  Warriors indeed!

I already liked you Jd, but now I also admire you hugely!

Dennis,  you too! I also got HCV by blood transfusion, for a small  operation in England, or possibly the air guns the military used to use for vaccinations. Mostly I think transfusion pre blood testing.

I highly reccomend  ice cream sandwhiches, thanks to NYG I vary that with Fudge cyles!

But now icecream with fudge sauce and marshmellows is sounding pretty yummy also!

The fat does help absoption and kind of helps me keep nausea at bay!

Bless you both!

Yes, it sure is good to be cancer free (since 2005 so just a few more years and I'm "cured")  The chemo sucked, the radiation sucked more and I believe the ileostomy sucked the MOST!!!  (Or maybe the jiggly fat weight gain, that continues to suck!)

It is great to find good in the horrors of illness.  Sure was blindsided by the Hep C though, I just figured if the cancer didn't recur that all would be well. (Don't know why I thought that, just did.)  Glad they found it when they did.  I have a lot of liver damage that my surgeon assures me was not there when he was in there looking at the actual liver!

This week I'm waiting for the results of my 24 week viral load - that test seems to take forever.  I've been UND since week 4 (first VL test taken after starting tx) so I'm hoping for the best.  Now I'm gonna go have a big dish of ice cream and ribavarin!

Blessings to us all.

NY Girl - Ice cream I can deal with !  Love it.  Sounds like a plan.  Everytime I have to take a pill (or 3) I will have a large bowl of ice cream with marshmellows and hershey's chocolate syrup (and brownie chunks).

JD - Yes it is good to be cancer free ... you are absolutely right.  Been 16 years for me in remission.  I hear you about being grateful for finding out about your liver.  Mine is the other way around.  I got HCV from millions of blood transfusions for Leukemia before they starting really watching the blood that was diagnosed in 1991.  If I had not gotten that blood, I would not be here at all, the leukemia would have taken me.  So I call HCV the Gift of Life.  Isn't it neat to find good in bad.  Makes life more manageable  :-)

WOW I had no idea that you'd been through THAT much!  My friend - you are one wild warrior!  Say adios to this disease cause there is NO way that it stands a chance against you!

:)  Debby

Dennis - If you can it's a good idea to take the riba with breakfast and dinner - that way you are taking them 12 hours apart at a time when you already are having something that probably has fat it in and it makes it easy to remember that it's time to take them.  Worse come to worse...raid the freezer section at the market and get some good ice cream and have a lovely desert every night :)

I had rectal cancer (Stage III).  Sure am glad to be cancer free for a couple of years now.  Last April a follow-up CT scan revealed liver scarring whch led me to the Hep C dx.  I might not have caught otherwise, so in a way having had cancer may have saved me losing my liver.  Ironic, no?

Thanks Proactive.  I will check out that website.  All knowledge is good knowledge.
JD ... I am a cancer survivor too .. chemo certainly sucked.  What kind did you have and I have never had peanut butter and bacon ... I will try that ... it sounds very interesting.

Not too sure about the "high concentrated" bit but I eat a LOT of avocado and olive oil, also full fat yogurt.  They say to take the riba with fat to aid absorption.  Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches are really good.  Eat whatever you can, you'll probably find that something that was delicious one day really turns you off on another.

Caution, you may lose a lot of weight on tx.  (This happened to me during several cancer chemos)  You are losing lean muscle mass and when tx ends and you can eat again you have to be very careful or you'll gain it all back but it will be jiggly fat.
