sry bout ur SE. I'm riding that nasty roller coaster too. I tried snacking on items that tasted good and got into trouble w. swelling n had to go back on Lasix. Fatigue hit me big time this last week. I"m doing a no caffeine weekend and eating frozen mango n blueberries. I've had a hard time keeping down liquids. Are you drinking enough?
I've had some bad days filled w/ the blues too. It's sooo freakin easy to feel sorry for yourself when your body is a wreck. Believe me I know.
I'm not an expert on much. But one thing I know a lot about is working my own thought life. Write in an online journal here. Or even write on paper n throw it away. Sort out your thoughts. This is NOT forever. It's a temporary condition and your body will heal. I make a list of what my future will be Hep C free. I hope this helps. It sure has helped me. You can come on here and moan and groan anytime. WE get it.
There is a nausea medicine that works most of the time. Talk to your dr. Perhaps an antidepressent. I take the nausea med occasionally. Don't give up.. Karen :)
I also had nausea with Vic early in treatment like you. For me after a few weeks it did get better. Hang in there this side will pass....... Good luck on your 8 week test.
Not sure what you meant by a slow response and if you are indeed Und. at Wk.8 then you will only have to do 28 weeks. That is the shortest protocol with Vic.
Nausea is certainly not a nice sx. .... Has the Zofran or Phenergan..not helped at all?
I know it sounds overly simplified ..however possibly try ginger ale ..or any ginger drink ..ie ginger tea as this sometimes gives relief. maybe others will chime in on what seems to be working for them as well
.Very often the sides will be less extreme as you go forward.....and like I said in my prev. post.. try everything you can to cont. as you have had a good initial response and if you are UND. at week 8 you have a great chance to beat this once and for all
Good luck. and try to hang on..

Thanks for the replies...yes I did have 1 log drop at week 4. This is my second go around with tx. First time was 2 years ago. I decided on tx. this time because I'm not working and thought I could handle all the side effects. I am doing the Zofran and Phenergan, water and other rescue drugs. All the nausea seems to be more than I can handle at times.
Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it.
I see from your prior posts you stopped SOC after just 3 weeks due to side effects ...(headache and nausea)
Did the doctor discuss with you this time ..that there are medications that you can take for these. Zofran(a prescribed drug) seems to be very effective for the nausea that many are getting. ,and possibly a narcotic if needed if the OTC drugs are not working for the headaches.
Do you know what your HGB. is ? If it is low(often is with Vic) then that may also be contributing to feeling lousy.
It is much more important to stay on this given you are doing a P.I.. ..because stopping prematurely may cause you to have resistant mutations that could make it much more complicated to treat in the future
Also ..what do you mean by ..being a slow responder? ..Did you have at least a 1 log drop at week 4 as this is important to having overall success.

i'm on week 9 of triple....incivek....some have a tough time ...i'm one of them...i have many sx...keep a close eye on your blood work in case your doctor wants to bring rescue drugs in...i have to take pills for nausea everyday..along with procrit for anemia...zentec for heartburn,,,stuff for rashes..along with all the other drugs...my sx were worse between week 2 and 5 after that things got better ..of course i did bring in rescue drugs....hang in there i'll bet its more tolerable in a few weeks....our systems seem too level off as we get use to tx....good luck.....billy
