Try drinking more water -- it might help.  I was told that and it helped me with my rashes.  I used Nixion products on my hair and they were fabulous.  I am still using them now.

Atarax is great, especially because it will help you sleep so take it in the evening.  Desonine 0.05% cream and lotion can help as well--as far as prescription drugs go.

For over the counter relief.....aveeno baths in tepid water.  Lotions with minimal added ingredients...it's just kinda hit and miss trying to find what works.

Because you body is so dehydrated from the drugs, you are not producing the oils like you usually would,  Add that to winter cold and forced heat....skin takes a hit this time of year on tx.  Remember tho, because you are not producing those normal body oils, as gross as it sounds.. you can skip the bathing for a day (or days) and still be ok. It may actually help.

For me it did.  Bath 2-3 x a week .  Same with hair.  I found a good dry shampoo and I attribute that to the fact that I lost little hair on tx..

Good luck!

i had to do same as tippy, benedryl did not work for me, but atarax helped me so so much. please try not to scratch (easier said than done) but i developed a mean rash, it looks like i have scars from severe 3rd degree burns, i don't think these scars will go away. i used gold bond, aveeno, curel, cetaphil, eucurcin, lubriderm and had to stay away from those perfumy smelly lotions (irritated me worse). i found cepaphil worked on my face and eyes, i also just recently added a bit of vaseline to the cetaphil cream and it has helped so much. i put vaseline on my lips with cue tips in morning and night, and have added vaseling to cetaphil for my face and it works (only use a little for face). good luck, and keep coming in here for answers, and don't give up!!!!

Aveeno Oatmeal products worked good but provided temporary relief.  The only thing that gave me long term relief for 8 hours was a pill called Atarax, its prescription only.  I doubt I could have made it through tx without this pill.  The pill will make you drowsy but I found the itchiness was most intense in the evening, especially when sleeping.  I was able to sleep well with Atarax.

What worked for me..Hmmm...Aveeno bath and body oil...Warm, not hot baths and pat dry afterwards...Chlorophineramine at night (benedryl made feel hung over)...for night-time dry mouth -mouth moisturizing gel -very nice and lasts nearly all night...Prevents leather tongue...LOADS of water...For the REALLY bad itchy and dry spots, bag balm or lanolin ointment (best kind is the stuff newly nursing mothers use for chapped nipples). It restores moisture and oils to the skin which stops the itch...If you get mouth sores, there is a prescription available called "magic mouthwash" which has Maalox, lidocaine, and an antifungal medicine (miconizole?) sometimes mouth sores happen (or thrush) because the PH in our mouths and bodies is messed up from the treatment. Hope this helps! ((((((((((((((HUGZ))))))))))) ~MM

I seem to have different areas that get itchy psoriasis spots (mostly at night), that drive me crazy.  My GP doctor had previously prescribed a mild steroid cream that I put on the spots if they are really bugging me.  But I try not to use that too much if possible.

I use a lot of lotion on my dry skin (arms, legs, etc), I found one with shea butter and a fragrance that I really liked  (Rose Petal pure essential oils) and because it smells so nice, I find that I am more inclined to use it frequently.

My GI doctor advised me to use Aquaphor ointment (over the counter) for itchy skin.  It is a really thick icky stuff that you put on after showering, and then cover up (so you don't get grease on your furniture).  It sounds awful, but it really really makes my skin feel better for a while.

Once a week that really helps, but be prepared, it is kind of icky, like vaseline...

I also have a very itchy scalp (and dry and thinning hair) and someone here advised me to get Nioxin hair products for my head/scalp.  It seems to help a lot.

I always have lip balm handy for my dry lips.  I'm trying to prevent cracks in the corner of the mouth from developing.

Also, Drinking lots and lots of water is a must.

For my face, which was not itchy, but it was very dry, I did splurge on myself and bought some really really nice Lancome (of Paris) products.  While very expensive, I feel that with all I'm going through, I definitely do deserve it!  This might be a female kind of thing.....  Anyway, The texture of the skin on my face has improved 100%.
