4 wks results

Just got back the viral count at 4 wks into the treatment
22000
Before the start of tx, it was 2260000
Is this good? How good?
There is also the second line in there (hard to read because of the fax) which is 4.34 (aparently is the same test measured differently (?) in log IU/mL
I have gen 1a.

Can I expect to clear?

Other people had similar numbers?

Thank you

Thank you Jim
I am supposed to go back for lab work at week 8.
I inject myself Sundays, and blood was taken on Tuesday
Which means that actually I was 3 weeks and two days into the treatment, when this test was done.

What is interesting to me is that in 2002 I did the Pegintron for 8 weeks (now I do the Pegasys) and at that time I was 6000000 in the beginning, and 500000 at week 8, and the doctor at that time stopped the treatment (New doctor this time)

So back than it was just one-log drop in 8 weeks, vs two log drop in 4 weeks now.

Congrats Mirceani,

You are doing great!

Wish I'd had a 2 log drop at week 4.

Last sentence second paragraph should have read: . So for example, you would draw blood for your week 6 viral load test the day before your 7th injection, or the day of your 7th injection, but before the injection.

If that was 2.26 million pre-treatment, then you've had a two-log drop at week 4 which is very good for genotype 1.

The goal now is become UND by week 12, or sooner. You might therefore ask your doctor about weekly tests until UND, or at least test at week 6 and/or week 8 to make sure you're still dropping the virus at a suitable rate. These tests should be a sensitive as possible, preferably going down to 10 or 5 IU/ml such as Heptimax by Quest Diagnostics. Ideally the tests should be taken close to (and before)  the injection. So for example, you would draw blood for your week 6 viral load test the day before your 7th injection, or the day of your 7th injection.

Again, congrautlations, you seem to be doing fine.
