i am so sorry to hear about your challenges.
from my understanding, healthcare workers and students with hbv infection, as recommened by cdc will be evaluated by an expert review panel and clinical practice restrictions determined on a case by case basis.
my advice is to seek counsel with your private physcian and make sure when your review occurs that YOUR interests and rights are represented and advocated. there have been reports of discrimination and it appears this issue is not easily solved especially at the student level, so please prepare yourself to fight for your rights with information, medical, and legal counsel should you experience this.
also i would immediately argue to continue practicum with perhaps a voluntary agreement not to engage in invasive procedures until the review is completed. my goodness, the value of practicum is diverse and need not be halted by this limitation! please demand their compliance with your privacy rights in this process.
good luck! stay strong and prepare now to be your best advocate in this situation.
perhaps more information can be found on the OSHA, CDC website, and also hbvadvocate.org .
I can't really add anything to that but a PCR can come back in 5 - 10 days depending on who they send the test out to...I've never had one come back before 5 business days though.
Good luck - it sounds like you need it, how unfair a situation you've got!
