I tested my free teestosteron annd my SHGB.SHGB was fine, but my free testosterone was a bit lower .I wonder how does this thing cure, impotency becouse of the hepatitis.
correction, they make that kind of test, but i thing the tested hormon was free testosteron
yes i test my testosteron, it was fine, but my SHBG i cant test, couse they dont make that kind a tests in bukgaria
It takes a while to get all of the drug out of your body, especially if you have been taking it for a long time. You need to be patient. Also, you got some good advice from Bali05 to have some hormone testing done.
i stop the rispolept 5 days ago and sttill i am impotent,only thee first two days had morning erection, but that was it.I am the same case as this guy orenhak .i hope i regain my libiddo, but it doesnt seems like it
My husband has this disease for many years, and everything is good in this department. No problems at all. And his testosterone is way higher then normal. This is also not good, because there is a strong history of prostate cancer in his family, and prostate cancer is fueled by testosterone.
Orenhak, unless you have very advanced liver damage, it is unlikely that hepatitis C will cause impotence. There are many, many reasons for this problem. There might be problems with your blood vessels, hormones, or it may be psychological. There are ways to help you, I am sure. You need a competent doctor to diagnose you.
I was wondering what had happened to me the past year. Used to be I couldn't seem to get enough. Now it doesn't cross my mind much. That kind of eased up things on my husband.
I just got done telling him about this thread. He looked like "uh oh! You mean it might come back?" I sure hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not tx yet but had all my hormomes tested 4 years ago and they were SO LOW. I went on bioidentical hormornes and got immediate results, energy level, sex drive (better but not great) skin cleared, sleep now great, etc...so do not rule out getting hormones tested. My husband was so impressed with the change (of course!! ) he got tested and his testostrone was low, he feels better now with more energy. Its a complicated puzzle, liver, hormones, etc. that I leave it all up to the doctors. I do believe with having a liver that does not fuction 100% plays a big part in the picture in processing hormones. This is a good thread and I will do what I can during tx along with getting hormornes tested at least once during tx.
get your testosterone tested as well as SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globin)
You can have a testoterone problem (too low) or SHBG problem too high .
SHBG is produced by liver and binds free testosterone.
Less free testosterone = low sex drive
Do blood test and you get some answers to rule out these conditions.
I hope that you are stopping the risperidone under supervision of your doctor. It is dangerous to stop just by yourself!
Good luck to you. I hope everything will work out well for you!
i wrote it and noow theres hope for me , couse i stop using respiridon 3 days ago ,i hope i regain my libido .If your right and everything gets fine, you will save my life
Good to hear you a bit more positive! There always is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you can't always see it. You need to believe that there is a way out, so don't despair young man!
I searched for 'resperidone and impotence' on yahoo. It is not listed as a side effect on all of them on all of them, but I was sure that it would have that side effect. I know a young man who was on Effexor and he had the same problem. He had to resort to taking Cialis daily. Now he is off the AD's and has no problem anymore. It is a very common side effect and resperidone is a stronger medication than most of those AD's.

http://www.candi.nhs.uk/uploads/documents/medicines_RISPERIDONE.PDF see under common side effects and PROLACTIN -- it explains impotence due to the drug raising the prolactin. It also explains that an adjustment of the dose could help with the impotence.

Your doctor should also be made aware that you have a liver disease, when you take risperidone. Your liver should be monitored regularly. Maybe the doctor could switch you to a drug which is less damaging to the liver.
can you tell me from where did you get this inf9ormation about respiridan
at least u know what your problem is -low testosteron, but my testotsteron is fine and i still have no libido.i am starting to thing that the part of my liver, that works with my testosteron is damaged, and destroys my testosteron.I dont know , so far no doktor suxedet to tell me whats wrong with me . :(
Ok found the right thread about Low Libido.. I am certainly glad I am not the only one. Hense the testosterone treatment my Gyno just started me on yesterday. Low Libido I wish, how about NO Libido. How embarrassing to talk to a Male doctor about. I almost started laughing. .. but you know I kinda had this issue before starting treatment, so can't say it was the tx drugs, but maybe the HepC has / had a lot to do with it. And as a matter of fact it was my Gyno that found the elevated liver emzymes when I went to talk to him about this issue years ago. referred back to Primary for other issues first.
So now full circle. and so far still clear HepC, but other issues going on, and I think I figured out this morning what my issue is with my stomach... Will know more when I see my doctor on Tuesday. But did just start the testosterone shots yesterday.. waiting for something to kick in. .LOL
OK, ill do it, i hope its becouse the risperidon
You can see that it is listed under the less serious side effects.
it doesn't mean that it is less serious, but less serious opposed to the serious life threatening side effects.
Risperidone ( generic name for Speridan or Rispolept) is an antipsychotic drug which definitely can have that side effect, like all antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs. You need to discuss this with your doctor.
What are the possible side effects of risperidone (Risperdal, Risperdal M-Tab)?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using risperidone and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
fever, stiff muscles, confusion, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats;
restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck;
tremor (uncontrolled shaking);
trouble swallowing; or
feeling light-headed, fainting.
Less serious side effects may include:
mild restlessness, drowsiness, or tremor;
sleepiness, dreaming more than usual;
blurred vision;
dizziness or headache;
weight gain;
problems with urination;
nausea, dry mouth, constipation; or
decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.
on tx iam less interested,
but before tx i was like a dog with two dicks in a lovely leg competition!
If impotence was a common side effect of HCV we wouldn't have nearly so many infected members with children. Most of us never even knew we had a disease.
Now treatment? That's a different story. I didn't feel like doing anything while I was treating - anything.

Consult a doctor, and try to stop obsessing. The original poster is probably just fine and no longer sees any need to participate in a medical forum.
he said he cured his hepatitis in his previous posts,and he said he is impotent for 4 years,thats enought time to say its 4ever .And i took viagra and it didnt helped me a bit.
I will share a bit of mature thinking with you. At 26 years old it is not the head on your shoulders that does the most thinking. We are all driven by our sexual desires at your age, however, because you are unable to perform due to whatever reason does not mean it is the end of the world. There are so many other important things in life.
You are assuming to much here. You can't make claims that someone committed suicide when you don't know the facts. You are projecting your own irrational thoughts not the actual facts. You don't know what other problems the original poster had and you are convincing yourself that if you undergo antiviral treatment you will experience permanent loss of libido. That is not helping yourself, that is feeling sorry for yourself.
Find a doctor who will treat your hepatitis C. It may very well rectify the situation and you won't know until you try. Wallowing in self pity solves nothing. You have to take charge of your life, find the necessary resouces and move forward until you find a solution.

Mine was sub-zero during tx. It seems to be in overdrive now, probably making up for lost time!
