means what ???

hi everyone
i have been tested week ago to HCV antibodies and the results came reactive and the comment says that the optical density is near to the cutoff, so i had to take the PCR test to confirm or exclude the virus, i did it and the results came like this:

- below detection limit   ref.range: Negative

comment:
the detection limit of assay is 12 IU/ml.

i don't know is this means that i have the virus ??

it means you don't have the virus right now.  you might have had it in the past, but u automatically cleared it on your own.  only 25 percent of people can do that on their own, so you are extremely fortunate. :)

You may be better off than having the virus and clearing it on your own.  I have a feeling your screening test for hepc antibody was 'weakly +,' meaning the score was >1 and <3.  If that is the case, ask for a confirmatory 'Riba' test, which is VERY specific for hepc antibody.  If the riba is neg, which is possible, that means the pos screening test was a 'false +.'  That means you were never exposed to hepc and have no antibody.
