Diuretics (meds to get rid of extra fluid which are many times prescribed for people with advanced liver disease), can lower the potassium, and that can cause leg cramps.

Let her doctor know she's having leg cramps so he can check her potassium and prescribe a replacement if she needs it.  Make sure she doesn't take anything without first checking with her doctor.

I dont know much about the leg cramping.  Your mom should see her doctor, and discuss tx options.  Has she had a liver biospy?

I have that problem as well.  I have cirrhosis.  I have read that some people do have this problem with advanced liver disease.  I have tried many things and can not seem to be able to get rid of it.  I don't know how long she has been having this problem but what I have discovered is, it seems to come and go a bit.  Some days are much worse than others.  I even have a few days in a row from time to time when it doesn't bother me much.  I have heard that it might be from low magnesium and I've tried eating Brazil Nuts to help with that.  I have also heard that calcium might have an effect.  So you might try to work some Brazil Nuts and/or Almonds as well as some milk into her diet.  If you find something that helps her let us know.
Good Luck to ya'll.
