need to adjust ad dose

finished tx 7/8 - been on Paxil 10mg from 1/1 until about 4/1 and then 20mg till now.  Right after I went off tx i started feeling tired.  My blood work is fine and the doc says things look good, but symptoms include fatique, brain fog, anxiousness, slight facial grimacing - that's about it.  My thought, from talking with friends familiar with it that I may be overmedicated on paxil.  So i didn't take any yesterday and have cut to 10mg (cutting20mg in half).  It's too early to tell but I'd like you guys opinions.  I'll call my doc tomorrow and ask him.  One friend whose been on paxil and others for depression says a psychologist is probably more appropriate to dx where I should be dose-wise - I'm inclined to agree.  any advice?
thanks guys
fellow traveler.

In case it helps, that's the same schedule a psychiatrist gave my son for getting off Paxil a couple of years ago.

thanks for your comments.  my doc said stay at 10mg for a week, then take 10 every other day.  he's a good gastrologist but i'm wondering if he isn't alittle aggressive in coming off Paxil - one of you guys said the stuff is good but coming off it is tough, so i think i'l stretch out doc's time frame alittle.  blueskies, how much were you on at the height of your dose, and for how long?  leunamme, i'm on a drug called terazosin for urinary problems.  it's a drug used to help lower blood pressure so it's easier to pee, but that's all the drugs i'm taking these days, thank you very much.  anyway, thanks again guys.  hope you're all doing well.  by the way, neil young has a biography out (that isn't right, is it!) called Shakey - read it.  After all I've been through the last 30 years - both good and bad, i had lost my way on anything hippie but this book has reminded me of all the good things i'd forgotten about - and i'm not just talking about the music.  he's got a new cd out of old songs called Unplugged which is excellent.

I have heard that while Paxil is not addictive you should never just quit an antidepressant cold turkey. I had a girlfriend quit like that and she ended up in the hospital for heart problems. You need to gradually taper off. Ask your doctor PLEASE before you just quit. You have been through enough already without having to go through that.

There is a large lawsuit against the makers of Paxil for advertising that it is not addictive.  People whw stopped taking it without gradually decreasing dosage had severe side effects.  Not to say the med isn't good, just that it has to be tapered off, not quit suddenly.

was told by my psychologist to not get off the AD to fast as depression and such can still a problem post tx but i would think reducing the dosage is worth a try.
Are you taking any other meds? I had a similar experience after getting off of Ambien as soon as I finished tx. The detox from Ambien felt pretty much like the tx sides...
