Thanks so much for your responses. I was just concerned because I have been having bleeding issues lately. I had a biopsy in 2002 and 2007 (brain fog forgot about 07 one til surgeon reminded me) Had the biopsy done yesterday YUK!!! My side and whole chest hurt. now this morning there's a bruise around the incision and my side and right shoulder hurt. I know this is nothing compared to the treatment but I just couldn't take the feeling of the shot before biopsy and the whole thing. now it hurts to take a deep breathe. Long road ahead. Hope you are all doing well ;-)

I have had two in the last ten years, with no pain or complications,..the benefits of this procedure far outweigh the risk.

Good luck

I've had three since 1998. Two were unguided and the most recent in 2010 was ct guided. No pain, no issues. complications are rare, but they occasionally happen.

and dont forget to take the sedative, it just takes the edge of the anxiety, I also have had 2 in the past 2 years, even though both experiences were different, they both resulted well.  Just make sure you can take time off after to rest, no lifting.

Although very safe it's not foolproof - no invasive procedure is - that's why you have to sign a "consent to treatment."

Hint - if you are having this done at a teaching hospital ask about the experience of the person doing the procedure.  You have a right to refuse "students," not many people are aware of that.  At my recent bx I asked the "assisting" doctor how many biopsies he'd performed?  His answer didn't answer my question "I've been in this department for 2 months."  At that point, I declined to have him do the actual procedure.  HTH and good luck.

Hi, since 93 I have had 4. The biopsy technique has come along way since I had my first one which was not guided, just a few taps around the ribcage then straight in.There should be no complications for you. You may experience some pain in the right shoulder area but that is not to bad.
