new revised edition of Hepatitis Help Book

FYI.  Hot off the press.  I have not had a look at it yet.  Note the authors.  Is this the same Dr. Gish some folks here already know, I wonder?

Yes, it is. I'm pretty curious about the book. are you going to get it? Will you loan it to me? (just kidding)
I looked into it after seeing your post and Dr. Misha Ruth Cohen practices Chinese Medicine. The combination of the two med styles look interesting.

I have the first edition of this book, it has a lot of good information. I read it before starting treatment. This book is the reason I have been going for acupuncture since before starting treatment and learning qigong exercises.  The acupuncture has helped tremendously with overall relaxation and focus, I'm trying to avoid the antidep. (already been there, done that)and so far (week 11/48)it's working (although I have had my moments.)I still have other sx, take em as they come, look here for info on them and so far as everyone else has said, tx is doable.  I'm going to pull the book back out and take a look again, may order this new edition.  Thanks for posting this info.

Hi Bug.  I am not sure if I will get the book or not.  I suspect it has a lot of good solid information about hep c and I know from shopping around for a couple years that there aren't very many good books out there. But these days I have more hep c information in my head than I can compute!  I am fascinated  by the idea of combining East and West approaches to medicine.  Even before my diagnosis I was interested in that because the two schools are rooted in radically different views of reality.  So how they are meshing - or not - is interesting.  This Gish fellow seems to be on the ball, so his collaboration with Cohen lends some credibility to those who are looking for ideas from other medical systems.

I think you should buy it and  loan it to me :-)

Hi Bud.  I like your posts.  It's legal to be blunt and cantankerous.  Golly gee willikers there was a lot of unidentified flying caca and disingenuous minced verbiage around here the last few days...I took a few hits myself and decided to lay low.    The Taoist principle of non-action.  I do hope the whole event was cathartic, as someone here suggested.

Anyway, books, yeah.  During tx I was unable to read more than a paragraph without a great deal of effort.  It was scary.  It took a few months to get my reading and concentration skills back and they are still not what they were.  I think this new edition of the the Hep C Help book might be worth investing in, especially for those who are new to the game.  By comparison,  I have the Hep C for Dummies book.  It's lame.  There is nothing in it that can't be  gleaned in two days from reputable websites.

About my status:  Geno 1b.  I treated for 60 weeks total, cleared early, but had a lapse in tx due to eye problems and then had to go with a reduced dose of interferon for a few weeks.  I stayed undetectable throughout treatment, but relapsed by 3 months post -tx and I am in no hurry to treat again.  None of my docs recommends retreatment because the first round was so hard on me and the odds of 2nd round tx are so low.  If the Vertex people come up with something that is more effective and allows for shorter treatment duration, I might give it a go.  I am 52 and as of two years ago I didn't have much fibrosis so I feel fortunate that I have some time to think about it.  I will get another biopsy in a couple years and the results of that will help me decide whether or not to attack the Beast again.  This is such a rough deal for folks who don't get diagnosed until they are advanced, or cirrhotic.

Every general article I read says "most" people live sucessfully with hep c until something else kills them.  I would like to know exactly how they know that.  Show me the data!

anyway blah blah poopdy doo rant rant maybe this should have been on the Other Side.

all international flamers stand up. were calling our meeting to order.

actually yall might have to ban me from the club. i am presently in touch with bonnie through email trying to show her how to be less visible and maybe bring some new info. i know its not legal to cohort with the enemy but some do benefit from her posts and i hate to see anyone ostrasize themselves like that, im doing my bit to help newcomers get used to this crowd and will continue, i hope at least some of you appreciate it. sometimes theres only so much we can do though. i had to say that because in all honesty, that fracas was the most fun ive had in a long time. can you imagine, enjoying what i did?
dont be so surprised, after all my name is cruelword!  it was just like watching a good barnfire, i loved it, it brought out the best in this place, in my opinion.
sheer madness. even if i am making some people mad by my statements, iill figure out how to win you over eventually, just you watch. this is the end for me on this subject, but im laying low for the next war to bubble over and i cant wait.

how long ago did you treat? im on shot 25 and lookin good.
also what were your eye problems
im assuming your male please confirm.

on the death thing, my guess is the bad liver and or vremia pulls other organs or systems down first, so it never really gets the credit for taking you out.

aint nuthin like getting shot at on this board!
