"reactive"?

Is it common for low-risk individuals to get low reactive EIA and indeterminate RIBA......?  If these tests are so sensitive, how could they not determine between negative or positive.  This "indeterminate" thing is really bugging me.  It seems there's no way to understand it.  From my POV, "indeterminate" seems like "positive".....why would an "indeterminate" turn to "negative" since certain antigens "were found"........?  And I also don't see how these test results could just be a fluke (is that the same as a false positive?) since they're so SENSITIVE and handled with lots of precision.

I would have to be chronically infected or not infected at all, seeing as it's been 6 months since possible infection (sex).  I'm past the window period.

Could a reactive EIA and indeterminate RIBA followed by a negative PCR/RNA indicate previous infection then cured.....?

If your only risk is sexual, that REALLY helps because Hcv is not considered a

sexually transmitted disease.  Sexual transmission is possible, but very rare.

A reactive screen with an 'indeterminate' Riba needs a qualitative Pcr for closure.

'Indeterminate Riba' means one of the five bands was reactive.  There is a good

chance your quali pcr will be neg with an indeterminate riba.  The fact that you are a low

risk individual helps.

if the Pcr is neg ( and I believe it will be) your screening test was probably false pos and you were never infected.

keep us posted on this.  All will be well.
