I'm taking Pegasys(Peginterferon alfa-2a)-180 once a week and 800 mg intake of riba daily. My Viral load was 104258,viral genotype 3.My weight is 67 kg.
I was told by my Doc to undertake HCV RNA test before 5th shot. Also i go for CBC before every shot.My hgb has surely come down but is still within limits.
One of my fren who has a viral load of 7lac plus has to take 1000 mg of riba daily.Guess the dosage of riba comes down to the viral load.Even though i read that the recommended dose is 1200 mg.Hope HCV test will tell if i need to carry on or increase the dosage of riba :)
Thx for the wishes and same to you,
Monty
You are still very early into treatment and many people do not develop anemia and still svr.
How many complete weeks of treatment was your last blood taken at? If you have just taken your 4th injection I assume you just completed week 3 and that your last blood lab was only a couple of weeks into treatment. Most people get the lab after 4 weeks, not after three weeks.
The other reason for hgb not going down of course is that you need more riba, but it may be too early to tell. You should get some results soon though. How much do you weigh? How much riba and interferon do you take, and what type of interferon do you take?
I wish you the best,
Dave
Thx for the information Dave.I was worried about platelets, now i'm worried about Hbg too :).Doctor said juice has no side effect,so it's Ok.Besides i have started giving a break of 2-3 days.I'm not sure but my Hgb has remained within limits. It's 13 now(just borderline)
Thx for the good wishes :)
Declining platelets are not an indication of treatment working, this is just a reaction to interferon.
Your platelets if I remember were still in the normal zone even after the big drop. If you hgb drops early on in treatment it can often be a good indicator of possible success, but plateletss and white blood cells dropping do not correlate with higher svr rates.
I am probably being overly cautious, but I would be careful about taking herbs or supplements during tx without speaking with your doctor about it first, especially when you were never in the danger zone for platelets. I had my platelets drop and then double, they tend to fluctuate for some people during treatment.
Good luck with treatment and I hope you are undetectable quickly,
Take Care,
Dave
Hope things work out for you too!!!
