riba test

I read somewhere that riba confirmatory hepatatis c test is not used anymore. What hepatatis c test is now used, instead of riba, to differentiate between false positive  hepatatis c antibody and  remote hepatatis c infection that has cleared on its own without any  treatment? In other words what follow up hepatatis c test is now used in situation like this: hepatatis c antibody is positive or reactive, but HCV RNA PCR is  negative  or non reactive(if one wants know if hepatatis c antibody test was false positive or had remote hepatatis c infection that has cleared on its own without any treatment)?

If hep c HCV RNA PCR test is negative you do not have hep c. As far as I am aware there is no way to differentiate between a false positive and a person who was infected and cured without medical help.

In any event why would it matter? The bottom line is you don't have hep c.

There are many people who have hep c and don't know when or how they became infected. Why concern yourself with an infection you do not have?
