Goof - you have to take control of the boat my friend...take charge the man in the boat will always appear if the hit the throttle fast and hard...he'll come rolling out.....you can't miss him.

Can Do Man - you know if you could somehow replicate the effects of tequila without the booze you just may have to make your new job full time plus overtime....

nygirly - you are too funny....I'm no ho you ho!!!!   lol...what is it with you ny types...

You gals mind checking under the seats of that boat of yours for a man? If you see him, give 'im a good hard whack for me. I'm always being told I need to hit the man in the boat, but damned if I can ever find the elusive little bugger.

I have had a terrible time with itching, I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night scratching all over. After a bath or shower it would be even worse, sometimes for a couple of days.

I found that a vitamin E bath ( I use "Burt's Bees body and bath oil" ) helps me. It also has the benefit of making your skin feel a bit softer. It makes the bath water very oily. I like what it does and will continue to use it after tx.

Nobody can tell you if you will have enough energy to do very active things.  Personally while I can get around and come to work if it came to something that required a good amount of energy = I'd have to bow out. That answer is whether or NOT the anemia was flairing up.  Right now at 11 it's manageable but certainly I couldn't wakeboard but I could sit in a boat.

I usually go to SEVERAL concerts a year (every Aerosmith tour there has ever been LOL) but this year I am not even going to do that.

I find if I exert a lot of energy say on a Friday...I would pay dearly on a Saturday and maybe Sunday with energy level - simply I'd be floored.

Of course...you will have to wait and see how it is for you.  Whether you have sides or anemia or anything - nobody can really tell you, I'm sorry :(

whoa! ahem...
back to the rash
AZ, might depend on the meds you are on and the dose. I have always had very dry skin so I always have to apply Ulactin or Lachydrin daily. I like Ulactin better. I did not get the generalized rash in the 70+ wks of tx. I only had one miserable spot in the middle of the back where the bra snap is. If this general rash I read is as bad as that spot was, I don't know how anybody can deal with that.
ANyway, you might not get it as bad. Make sure your skin is always moisturized pre tx and of course during. Sunscreen should be enough for the Summer outing.

Sorry gals but didn't you read the fine print on the riba? No bikini's can be worn. You'll just have to go nude. But before you get all upset on us here im sure you can find some of us nice gentleman to shield you from the sun. Oh what the heck sign me up first. I'll take all weekends and every other week. You can thank me later. GEEZ the things i'll go though to help out the gals here.

azgirl says... but is there ever a time where you can exert yourself for one day?...... Sure but it can be very exhausting .

From one Debgirl to another ---- you know who I'm callin a ho!  ;0

hahaha just teasing to lighten the day!  :)

Anyway - I am wondering WHAT I am going to do this summer about bikini land. I've lost so much weight I now look anorexic (I started very thin to begin with) and the rash...well it's EVERYWHERE. Some of them I have itched and they got infected and now it's like huge red welts/bruises.  I get lazy about putting on the lotion sometimes and this is what I cause myself.

Another thing is the SUN itself is going to be very difficult to deal with having on our skin.  I've always been a complete sun goddess but the other day driving the sun peaked through my open window and it HURT my face. That has never happened before not even in the islands.

so I have a feeling that this year with the shot bruises on my legs - the riba welts on my body - the emaciation - and sun sensitivity....it's really going to be hard year for not only bikini's but let alone just shorts and a tank top.

But of course...I am surely going to try it I'd bet!

nygirl -"It's teamwork around here and all us ho's are hoing in the boat...row row row the boat..... ;-)"

You are too funny....wait who you callin ah ho?

Question on the rash...being as how summer time is coming and my tx will be starting soon...how bad does the rash get for people?  I mean is it like no bikini wearing time or can you get away with it?  Also since the season is here in az now boating time is upon us and that means wakeboarding....is that even a remote possibility on tx?  I always hear how exhausting tx is but is there ever a time where you can exert yourself for one day? Just curious...I know it effects everyone differently but gotta ask...

Sorry to hear your getting the rawsh already! I did look back and we started tx together the same nite. How did your 1st shot go? Sorry I can't remember but the 1st few days of tx were rough on me. The only rash I've got so far is at the injection site. Alot of aches and pains right now but this is a doable thing.

Another vote for the stuff posted by Magnum. I use it in the form of Clobex lotion. I only do it as needed, one or two applications back-to-back every couple weeks, I guess. It's a kick-butt steroid.

Hi illona,
After trying a number of different things I've found that a simple anti-itch cream (usually 1% cortisone) usually works for my itching. I'ts relatively cheap and available over the counter almost anywhere. I look for ones that contain aloe and/or Vitamin E. I do like the Gold Bond Triple Action too - its very soothing and I've grown to like the uh distinct aroma. Apparently there is a new kind of Gold Bond available called "Ultra" I think, which I'll probably add to my arsenal too. I've found that gentle scrubbing with a good shea butter soap can help too. Good luck in finding what works for you!       - Lee

While the Gold Bond is effective and I was also using it, it's only temporary, and the itching will not go away. I have still been scratching immensely with Gold Bond, until I went to the deratologist the other day. He prescribed a cream called Clobetasol Propionate. In two days, no more itching. All my scabs are healing nicely. Put it on as directed (3 times daily). Wash your hands when done. This is really going to help you...

I have been using Suave Cocoa & Shea Butter skin therapy as bath soap.  Leaves a bit of a film/covering that has helped.  Then Gold Bond and I seem set for the day.

Did have a bad problem of painful bumps/rash on the hands that has finally started abating.  I have a feeling it was shingles tho.  Acyclovor seemed to help so who knows on that one.

Just wanted to share the soap thing since so many are oh so harsh.

Believe it or not the only reason I ever stumbled on to the Gold Bond in the first place was the rash had me SO BAD that I was buying everything I could find and nothing really worked.

Then for Christmas my 17 year old daughter went out and bought me a basket of all sort of anti-itch products and voila...there it was.

It cured my rash in THREE days - the doctor could NOT believe what happened.

So anytime something works for YOU on something....please post it because we might be dying for a cure for something...even if it seems insignificant like little itchy bumps!  :)

It's teamwork around here and all us ho's are hoing in the boat...row row row the boat.....  ;-)

Spent lots of money on creams and lotions.  Finally read about the Gold Bond on here.  It's been my salvation.  Just recently the rash has subsided so I thought I was clear.  Just read on here to continue with the Gold Bond or it will come back.

GOLD BOND TRIPLE ACTION LOTION

Make sure you keep your body well HYDRATED with lotion (more than once a day and then continue to keep putting it on after the bumps start to subside or they will just come BACK again) and drink a lot of extra water.

It's a pain but if you use lotion it does diminish.

Also hydrocortizone .1% helps for the BAD bumps and also I put in Aveeno Oatmeal Therapy stuff in my bath.

I treat the bumps JUST like I treated my kids chicken pox cause that is what they remind me of

It seems that you have been awarded HCV's Red Badge of Courage - riba rash.  Scroll down to the thread titled, appropriately,  'ITCHY' opened on 2/28 for further reading.

hi,

For many here the best thing for rash or itch is GOLD BOND TRIPLE ACTION LOTION, get the green bottle with red cap it works wonders.  The green bottle is extra strenght and the yellow is regular strenght. Hope this helps as it helped me.  Good luck and let me know how you make out.
