Forgot to add - the crows are eyeballing my head and I know they are thinking of nesting material. haha
This is the right place for me - I went back to see an old Dr. at NIH. He gasped when he saw me as he said: "You have aged". I raced to bathrm after that meeting and just cried my eyes out. Then I tried to compose myself and looked in the mirror and my sunken now red eyes - I looked dead which made me just start laughing so hard that I peed myself and started crying again. It is hard. I read that interferon causes wasting of muscles, especially in the face.
Sorry.
If I win a lottery I will get a lift but I will be satisfied presently with SVR. Good luck to all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Part of this problem could be from being too exhausted to be active. Despite my walking almost daily, I spent most my time prone.
If we were healthy and laid around for 6 months or more, we'd get out of shape too. Our muscles are made to be used.
Do what you can, and when tx is over, do more.
yes the arms of jello and bean pole legs...i recall. this will change when u are able to get moving again. with a good diet and exercise about 12 weeks and u will see results, keep the faith, babs
I take my last shot Sat 23, and i take last pill on 30th . my arms are saged and my legs look like bean poles I have lost like 25 or so LB ? so god bless u all pray for our future Never have this again
I'm looking somewhat emaciated, like I spent the time in a POW camp. I lost 32 pounds during treatment, including a lot of my shoulder and arm muscles. But I also lost my pot belly and that's good news - I just hope I don't gain it back.
I'm taking my 24th and final injection of pegatron about an hour from now. I'll have bloodwork and take my last ribivirin on June 29th. On Sep 21, 12 weeks after the end of treatment, they'll test my viral load.
i'm 59...7 months post tx....i gained 25 pounds on tx....man did i look bad...i still look bad to me but i'm getting back...my muscles are really getting strong now...better then for the last 10 years...last night i carried two canoes at once loaded with gear with one of my sons...i figure i'll get my muscles in shape first then work more on cardio....it takes some time at 59! stay with it and good luck....billy
Poor people all of us.
I just hate to see my reflection in a mirror.
I hope we will back into our previous appearing.
Thank you.
It is so me, too.
I hope the time will help us
I look fat ,flabby,depressed too.Put on 18pounds,never thought I would look like that .
"I'm starting to look like a shar pei. And I feel like a wet noodle"
"In a strong wind my arms wave like a flag and my neck looks like a turkey."
"i now have a muffin top. "
OMG, I laughed until I cried. Thanks for the comic relief.
I have been so horrified by the changes in my body and face. I was once very pretty and never thought much about it until now when I look in the mirror and no longer recognize myself.
Thank you for response. I see every one of us have the same hope - be back in shape with the time and exercises.
Thank you.
Yes, Ann, that is a side benefit of treating for me too. I have lost 48 pounds and I am at a mid 1990s weight. (I used to be slightly underweight. Then I got vasculitis, thanks to Hep C. After that the weight just piled on. I am hoping now it will be easy to lose and keep off again.)
Thank you for your answer. I hope so, too. To be honest, I look just descanting.
Thank you again. You are great.
i hear you about sagging. i was very fit before tx but after 48 weeks of meds i'm not looking that fit. i now have a muffin top. never had that before. i'm 4 weeks from EOT but i still don't have a lot of energy. i hope it returns. i want to get back in the ocean and go surfing. i don't have the energy to paddle to catch a wave. bummer...belle
I feel the same way. In a strong wind my arms wave like a flag and my neck looks like a turkey. I agree with Pooh....once we are strong enough exercise will get us into a better shape than before we started. I lost a significant amount of weight. In fact I now way what I did in 1988. I love it! Keep moisturizing too. I have been fanatical about that. I also cut my hair short and it seems to be regaining its old shine and is no longer falling out.
