Go get tested and put your worries to rest. Once and for all. It will make you feel better to not have to worry anymore.
To be honest you response upsets me, you make me feel like a petty obsesive freak, when I only got cut on saturday, and up into now my whole life sever Asthma has been my only medical complaint, and you cant fake that. I just wanted to no what i should do as i cant seems to find any advice, and if i need to get a test how soon can i get it, and didnt want to waste my GPs time. I appricate you prob get annoyed by time freeky obsessed people (iv been messaged by a few already). Also i happen to start a job soon that i would be ruled out of if i was found to have any blood bourne infection.
I see you posted the same question on the HIV forum and got pretty short shrift from the members there
I have made my point and don't wish to continue this dialogue.
I am immunised against other forms of Hep, Iv been told that HIV would not survive on those types of Razors, and also i have been lead to believe that Hep C is the biggest risk for this type of injury (did a microbiology modual at uni, not much help i no).
I terms of a cut i have adult acne on my neck and they look like they were cut or so said my friend i got to look later that day.
I promise you im not obsesive about things like this, with my job (im a HCA btw) you cant be! I have worked in health care my whole life. But with that job i have always managed my risk via PPE etc and at work there are protocols for risk, needle sticks etc. I feel helpless with this.
Because there are quite a few posts of a similiar type from obsesive people describing some incident where they may or may not have cut themselves.
There is nothing in what you descibe that indicates a risk factor since you dont even state that there was a cut!!!!!!
Why Hep C not HIV or any other blood borne disease?
Like I say-all rather odd.
why?? I am really truly worried!! I just am really stuck on what to do, I have just read there is a risk. but dont no if I'm over reacting, I meen u cant trust most of what you read on the net.
Something very odd about this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure I believe any of it.
I'm not to worried about stigma, more that i want to make sure im ok quick as possible. Plus i feel like I'm being abit silly. I mean the risk cant be that high can it? It just seems i cant get a deffent idea of change of risk from anyone.
Don't tell them anything. At least not until you know for sure. There is a stigma attached. Don't tell them unless you have to.
Ok, How soon can i get tested, also i work in healthcare so I dont no if i should tell Occupational health, or am i being over dramatic.
My Barber likes to use a straight razor on peoples necks but I always tell him no. Especially since I have been SVR.
Bobby
I'd say get tested. If it's something that you are concerned about...testing is a good way to find out for sure.
