what gets transplanted?

what gets transplanted? the whole liver or just part of it?

By the way, you'll lose the gallbladder in the process. They don't bother transplanting that because of the additional time/difficulty and the possibility of later complications.

i  donated my liver 60%(right lobe) to my husband... it really depends on the recipient, and also the size of the donors liver.  my husband is quite tall he is 6 ft 4 inches.
my friend donated her liver to her bro and they only took 45% of her right lobe liver as what  she told me.
and we are both doing fine.

I have read 25% adult to child and 50% adult to adult.

If it is a living donor, the recipient gets 60% of the donor liver.

In a cadaver transplant it's generally the whole liver.
In a living donor transplant it's a piece of the liver.
