You are really special. Every time I read your comments I continue to be amazed at what a giver you are.  72 weeks!!! What a fighter you are also. I think of you all the time and just want you to know you are continously touching lives here on the forum. Thanks for all the help you give us.

Kalio is 100% correct.  Everyday you post a new wierd symptom that nobody has ever heard of before.  If something real should happen to you nobody is ever going to take it seriously.

And you've ONLY DONE TWO SHOTS!  TWO!

If you have to go to 72 like some of us when you have a REAL problem like anemia...nobody is ever going to believe you and you won't get help.

Antidepressant. That is your hope.

I've never heard of STOMACH HEAT but why int he world would it possibly have ANYTHING to do with ALTs anyway?  Liver enzymes are produced in the LIVER,.,

The stomach heat is a new one on me. But the brass band in my head seems to be my own personal symptom too. The only thing that has remained normal for me in this last 48 weeks is my ALT / AST. I take the shot on Friday night and it is Saturday evening before the hard sides roll in. I guess we are all so different. I hope this issue goes away. Not to offend in any way but with me my imagination, treatment and sides would usually give me a heart attack at least once a day or at least it would seem that way in my mind. I guess with me all of these drugs just made me afraid of what they were doing. I hope you get some relief soon and your in my thoughts. Dale

You've "associated wide ALT spikes?" What does that mean?  Your LFT's may not normalize during treatment. If you're taking pegasys it's not uncommon for some people to experience LFT elevations. They can go up, then come back down, then go back up again, move around and even normalize throughout treatment. And it doesn't mean the meds aren't working just fine, or that your liver is being harmed, that's just how it works for some people. But it sounds like you don't even have an LFT panel done yet...did you? If not, why are you worried about something that hasn't even happened yet?

It sure sounds like you are over analyzing yourself and trying to determine if any itch or ache might be a sx of tx.  More and more med profession is acknolwedging the impact ones mental perspective can have upon their healing.

Also, riba does cross the brain barrier and is known to affect our thinking.  Hence the riba-rage, need of AD's for some, brain fog, etc..

It could be that you are fretting to much trying to observe sx's and may actually be inducing some of the things you are worrying about because of the stress level into which you are placing yourself.

stomach heat is a feeling whereby u feel as if there is a small flame or heat emanating frm the stomach n slightly burning ur throat. accompanied by slight indigestion, but is NOT HEARTBURN. Its more like hot flashes that last constantly for a few minutes. whenever i experienced it and tested blood on same day pre tx, ALT was usually elevated.

grandoak, actualy i was worried cuz i was having pre tx symptoms this week (after using japanese pegasys) instead of tx induced sx. wheras i had classic sx on my 1st shot.(used pakistani pegasys without transport)

Thanks to the great advice in here I (my mother whom I have to now pay back) only paid for one month (which was ENOUGH as it was),  I contacted Commitment to Care and they almost immediately sent me a one month supply - before I am even approved!  I literally was just shocked that the drug company gave away the free medications so FAST when the insurance company (which surely is NOT free but is a part of my compensation package that I WORK for) wouldn't let me even have them!!!

I'm on week 57 of 72 weeks this week (I finally just checked it out where I was) so I'm getting there and after this NEXT winter (again ugh) will be DONE one way or the other.

Then no matter what goes on ... I am taking a well deserved REST!  :)

Something I really think we all could use about now...72 just is so much longer than I thought it would be.

Could it be Acid Indigestion? Riba does that, if so check with your Dr. for the right med. for this kind of thing, I use to chew on fresh parsley, it really went down nice and easy, and left a fresh breath in my mouth, I know it's scarry, especially when people haven't experimented very much with chemical  substances in their bodies, everything becomes a big deal, anyway be patient, it'll pass.

Are you taking an anti anxiety medication yet? Please at least try one. You worry no matter if something good is happening ( like hardly any sides) or if something bad is happening  (anaphylaxis) which is a sign of anxiety/panic disorder.

You run the risk of being the "boy who cried wolf" with your doctors (not to mention forum participants) by doing this, Have your doctors suggested anti anxiety meds yet? You have a way to go, I don't want you to be a basket case by the end!

Im not sure if "boy who cried wolf" translates into the yore of your country or not, its the tory of a boy who keep s running and telling his villagers he sees a wolf so they finally just ignore him. The wolf eats him!

I also sometimes get "heat" in my stomach but I attribute that to leftovers from my GERD (reflux). You do not have to get reflux to get those symptons caused by acid. If the condition becomes chronic, you might ask your doctor about tryin a PPI like Nexium. If it's only once in a while, a simple antacid like Tums might do but never take a simple antacid within 2-3 hours of the ribavirin.

As to the suggestions that you take an AD or anti-anxiety med. Very hard for lay people to diagnosis something like this over the net, especially since you're from another culture and this is not your native language.

I think the main thing is how much stress are you under and how much anxiety do you really feel -- as opposed to how much others here think you feel.

If indeed, you feel yourself under a lot of stress and anxiety right now, then by all means talk to your doctor about anti-anxiety meds or ADs. Or maybe talking to a psychiatrist will work just as well. I think those closest to you -- family members, your doctor, etc, would be in the best position to guide you here.

Be well,

-- Jim

To me, the ampicillin is a giveaway that's the "heat" you're experiencing is stomach related as opposed to liver related. Antibioitics play havoc with the digestive system, including the stomach. Of course speak to your doctor about it, but I doubt it's your liver enzymes.

The stomach is not the liver.  It's like stubbing your foot and saying "wow that's gonna give me a bad headache".  Or cutting off a finger and thinking "now I cant talk".

Niceguy - you need to realize that there are a list of potential side effects. Read them and learn them so that you know that the things you think needlessly are "caused by the medication" are just THINGS and NOTHING MORE.

If you won't go on a serious anti anxiety medication at least you can learn what actually might BE something you need to worry about.  That just MIGHT help.

You have 15 weeks to go.  That is a little less than 4 months... so around the first of March.  Hang in there girl you have fought the beast tooth and nail and I know you will win.

what happened to the constant matching of symptoms to possible cirrhosis?  is that phase over?  phase two is matching things to the meds?  It does not take a rocket scientist to see a pattern of over reaction after reading 50 threads in the last two months. Even if the person is from another land and culture you can assess, as a human peer, when someone is worrying too much, now, if he was text msg from Mars, perhaps we could be off base...

niceguy, please print ALL the questions you have started here in the last three months and show them to your dr, then come back and tell us whether he agrees with NYG, Kalio, Mikesimon, flguy and me, that you are over reacting and worrying too much.  PLEASE ask if an antianxiety med is the right thing to take, after you show him/her what you have asked here.
wishing you the best,
I

Hang in there. Alot of us are finding what did not bother us before seems like more of an issue when on Treatment.  Just remember when you feel that way it may be the treatment.  Explain that to  your wife to so she can ignore you when you get into one of those moods.  I have already told my husband and family to ignore me if I get out there.

I know it is almoooooost over.  I added it up today and it's 17 weeks.  Now that winter is almost here (boo hissss as Cuteus can agree to winters in NY I'm sure) at least I'll be happier cause I don't CARE if I don't feel well nearly as much.

In the summer with the ocean down the road and lakes and parks etc. that's when it was the WORST.

I have to remember that! At least on the weekends now it will start being so cold - and dont you just LOVE staying in bed and not getting up for work when it's so WARM in the blankets and so COLD out of them?

THAT will be like a major treat to enjoy!

(Hey...we gotta make up whatever we can to get us through! At least my fudgicles phase finally passed...but now I'm back to the Ben & Jerry's and Hagen Daaz and this time I'm NOT hyper thyroid so it scares me hahaha).

I didn't say what I did above for any reason except I want you to feel better and it seems like you are having a hard time with anxiety. I think it would be worth a try one and see if it helps.
I didn't intend to be "mean" to you at all, I have been supportive of you from your first post and enjoy your input. Many people need anxiety medications on this treatment, so you aren't alone.
I hope tx continues to go well for you.

I hope you can speak to your doctor about all your concerns and he can help you. The tx causes irritability. It is easier to get rattled or upset I think. Noises sound noisier, things just seem to be exentuated. I don't have small children, but I imagine that would be hard to cope with on tx. Maybe some of the other parents dealing with that can advise. My kids are adults, they can be a pain too LOL ( and noisy!)
All of this makes it hard to deal with our spouses. My feeling is our  spouses take the worst of it. When it happens, I talk to my husband, apologize, and remind him the drugs cause this heightened sense to everything. For me that effect DID improve as time went on and was at it's worst in the beginning.
I used the anti anxiety meds on an as needed basis. They were a definately a "rescue" med for me.
Best of luck as you go forth, sounds like you are handling it really well so far except for the anxiety.
I would suggest try to stay out of the sun and moisturize your skin all the time!

Why have you associated alt with stomach heat? (whatever stomach heat is).  Keep in mind alt is measured in the blood and your stomach contains leftovers from what you ate - it not a pool of blood in there.  Have you had a liver panel since tx began, about 10 days ago?  If your stomach is talking to you, it's chatting about something you ate. Try aloe, it's good for gastric.
