http://www.labtestsonline.org/map/aindex.html
can you please tell me in simple which test to get on 10 weeks/?
antigen surace or antibody test or pcr?
can any one help me i need your help guys please?
a ten week antibody test for hep b and c will give you some closure, if negative.
If your risk was sexual, your hep c test will almost surely be neg. A neg antibody
test for hep b, at ten weeks, is reliable.
could you ask your partner to be tested? If he/she is neg ten weeks after and you
are neg 10 weeks after, then you are good to go.
well I lost her number thats why i am anxious.anyway,so is it good to do pcr for hepatitis B and antibody test for hepatitus C at as 10 weeks as hep C is not std and it is only transmitted when blood is involved?
I want to know about antigen test is there any test like in HIV its HIV duo that look for p24 antigen and antibodies. so can you tell me any test for hepatitus that look for both antigen and antibody and thus shorten the window period?

the best test to check for Hep C virus is the Pcr qualitative. Very Sensitive.
If I were you, i would ask for the antibody test first. MUCH cheaper and a ten week
result, if neg, is reliable but not definite.
Ask for an Elisa antibody test for Hep C. i have a feeling it will be neg. a ten week result
is reliable. If neg, and I hope and believe it will be, then wait two months and ask for
a final Elisa test. you have waited this long so the Pcr is not needed. Pcr test is very
expensive.
I HAVE SEXUAL CONTACT NO INVOLVE IN BLOOD SO I THINK I DONOT HAVE HEPATITUS C.ALSO,i will get test pcr qualitative for hepatitus b and antibody test for HEPATITUS C is it right.
You have been given 4 clear and concise answers to your question along with a link to read to help you further. You posted on the HIV forum to the point they told you there was nothing else they could answer for you. This is a forum for people that DO have HCV.If you are concerned beyong what folks here have helped you with it would be best advised to talk with your doctor.
well I got tested for hepatitus B(Ag quaalitative) and C (AB) at 10 weeks all are negative.since sexual exposure do not involve HCV risk when blood is not involved and SPECIALLY FROM FEMALE TO MALE. SO CAN I BE GOOD TO GO WITH HEPATITUS OR SHALL I REPEAT TESTS PLEASE HELP
window period for hep b and c is, probably, 90 days or so, 180
days on the high end. if you have a neg antibody test for B & C
after 90 days, you are 99% good to go.
2) The 'Pcr' test looks for the virus for hep b and c, not the antibody.
This is more expensive than the antibody test but is accurate after
15 days or so.
3) Hep C CAN be transmitted sexually but is very rare. Sexual
transmission is almost always male to feamle. Even that is very
rare. hep B is a classic std and is easily transmitted by sex.
4) presence of Hiv or any other Std makes sexual transmission of
hep c more likely.
hep C is a blood borne disease, infected blood must enter the
blood stream of an uninfected person for transmission.
there is a vaccine for hep A and B. Unfortunately, there is not
a vaccine for hep c.
