Fifths Disease

Does anyone know anything about Fifths Disease, I think they call it Slapped Cheek Disease? It’s usually a childhood disease like chicken pox and once you’ve had it you can’t get it again. The reason I’m asking is my daughter called yesterday and told me my granddaughter has it. I spent last night and today researching it on the internet but didn’t find a whole lot except that it’s no big deal unless your pregnant or on chemo, and the symptoms for an adult are light fever and joint pain (well I have those symptoms for about 6 wks now...lol). Apparently this disease causes erythrocyte aplasia, where the bone marrow stops forming red blood cells. I just took shot 14 of 48 and I’ve been feeling the anemia starting to kick in, had my cbc’s done Tuesday and my hgb is 10.8 and my hct is 31 so I’m not really bad yet but like I said I’m starting to feel it.
I will call my Dr. Monday and probably go in for an antibody test but was hoping maybe you guys might know something.

Thanks, Ann

Thanks meki,
I guess I'll see Monday when I talk to my Dr. but from what the internet says the only way a person on chemo can rid themselves from Fifth Disease is to quit chemo, and that's not  something I want to do.

Sorry Annie..

There are a lot of diseases out there that can be bad to come in contact with while you are on TX.

But I don't know about this...

So hugs - hope you do well.
