Advice needed [Mitral Regurgitation]

Hi!

My cardiologist told me that I have Mitral Regurgitation and that explains every symptom that I have.
He told me not to think about it because it is really common and is nothing serious.

But this info is not helping me at all. I'm waking up in the middle of the night (~4am) with shortness of breath and feeling terrible.
The same goes in day time, I feel light headed.

Can some one can give me advice on how to live with it?
For example, I noticed that quick short exercise is helping to boost blood circulation and I feel better for a while.

Is coffee good idea? How should I sleep? Anything else I should know, please share as much as possible.

--   about me
I'm a bit overweight and doing everything to loose that weight. Quit smoking and feeling much better than before. I had high blood pressure, but that is fixed now and is normal.

Hi.  I believe you would get better answers on the Heart Rythym Forum.  This is the Hepatitis C Social forum and, while some of us may have heart problems, most don't , but we all have Hep C, or are caring for someone who does.

To get to the Heart Rythym Forum, just go to the top of this thread, to the very top - blue band above the Tree of Helping Hands.  Click on Communities, a drop-down box will show a list of all the Forums on MedHelp, in alphabetical order.  Look in the Hs, and find Heart Rythym and click on it.  That will take you right to the correct Forum.

Good Luck,

Pat
