Every time I see your thread title, I think of those kids in the car asking "are we there yet?" :)
In your case, it's.....almost. :) Congrats on your 12 week UND .. looking better all the time.
Trish
Thanks all!
Went to my Dr. yesterday and I asked him.
He said that if at 6 months I'm still UND we can say I've achieved a Sustained Virological Response.
He will then test me again at 1 year post.
Funny thing, my ferritin was at 800 during tx (normal pre-tx at 170)
and now it's 96 which is good. (I was using Procrit during tx)
My Iron is low now - It's at 13. It's not too low but he want's me to start back eating iron rich foods (which I love anyway) I cut back 'cause of the ferritin being high. If it ain't one thing it's another. LOL
Thanks again everyone!
24 weeks post TX completion is the accepted standard. But, 12 weeks post TX is a terrific indicator worthy of joy and optimism. Way to go.

Hi all !
My Dr. said at my 6mths SVR.......
"If you want to get a 1 year test, please do, but we're done here, your 'cured'"
I was in a trial and their not even doing a 1 yr. test!
No slouth Dr. either, head of research. He also said 3 mths post is more like 98% odds of SVR for good.
All that said, I live my life now as 'cured'. I will get a 1 yr. , but I will not worry a day until than. This disease has taken enough of my time.
And CONGRATS so far :)
LL
Even though my doc said six months - I'm getting my two year test tomorrow and just as nervous as the first test I ever had.
I guess it's just a matter of what number gives you satisfaction after the six months but generally most docs say if you don't relapse at that point - you wont.
Looks real good for you! Hoping the best! How was your Friday? lol...
anyway looks like you can put this behind you, and move on to happier and healthier days.
A Google search for HCV SVR will turn up pages of published papers that state SVR is 24 weeks post treatment with no detectable virus.
This Friday you guys!!!!
Woo-Hoo Time to kill the dragon
I wish you both an easy tx with great results
rock you ready to do the darn thing on the 7th of nov. lets have a drum roll for rock and I. we are bout to tag -team this monster. will let everyone know about the first shot friday. wishing you, and I rvr rock. peace charmmm
My recipe fro EVCO oil is a teaspoon and a mouth...mix and sweesh.
Bake some sweet potatoes in the oven and put VCO on instead of butter, delicious
I think being UND at 3 month is a good sign-
6 month is a really good sign- but 12 month is the best predictor.
I actually did what you said Rocker, and I picked an unmarked paper.
I hope it's a good omen!
Well, I'm off to the store to pick up a few things to put my coconut oil on hehe
I've got to get some recipes for EVCO
enigma
what i like to do is play the odds right now...take 10 numbers and mark one....drop in a hat...pick one number and pray its not marked...you have only one try...GOOD LUCK
12 week post treatment that is
SVR at week 12 means you now have a 90 % chance you are cured...from what ive been reading.
I was under the same impression of what Isobella is saying.
Going out on a limb here, but my understanding is that 12 weeks post is an excellent "predictor" and 6 months post is cured.
Seems like word play, but there is a difference. Trust me, when I get the news that I am still UND at post 12 weeks---I will be cautiously optimistic that I am cured...forever!
Best of luck to you....stay away from anti-freeze,LOL!

Hi! How are you feeling? My 2 doctors told me two different things. One told me after 6 months of txing if still UND you are SVR. THe other hepatologist told me after one year.
I pray for your SVR!!!!!!!
I believe the current protocol is 6 months but my other hepatologist goes with the old standard of 1 year.
Best of Luck Xenigma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
