Tks RG..that is one of my favorite....
This is not a traditional Christmas Song.
With the Media focus on crime, we seem to forget, this is only a handful of people and for the most part Human Nature is good and caring.
The Focus on the economy. What do we really need? Food, Shelter, and Camaraderie. The focus on The Future of the Planet. Earth is forever changing and there is nothing we can do to change this fact. It will be here tomorrow and long after we are gone.
As I have stated before, I don’t know if I am considered a Christian or not because I don’t agree with a lot of it’s doctrine but, The Holidays (especially Easter) seem to bring hope. Maybe we should focus more on what we actually see instead of the gloom and doom image that we are coerced to believe.
Yes there is evil in the world but the world is not evil.
My New Year’s resolution is, I will no longer crawl under my desk (in fear) practicing the Atomic Bomb Drills I was taught in The First Grade

I actually heard that whole thing about the 12 days of Christmas and it's true meaning, in Church this last weekend. I think that really quite interesting to me. I've sung that Christmas Carol all my life and never really knew where it came from until that explanation was given to me.

"Oh Come, Oh Come Emanual", by my grandchildren. (tear)
Chestnuts roasting and toasting on an open fiire
My main man Jack is on your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eski - not Larry, Curly but - Moes.
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistle, thistle, this little piggy went to market toe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight
And so on and so on

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffles us.
What in the world do leaping lords, French hens,
swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now you know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so pass it on if you wish.'

"Little Toy Trains" Roger Miller
I always used to play a Raffi Christmas album for the kids (his version is also on utube)to put them to bed Christmas eve. I Ioved the song and found that it was written by Roger Miller. Roger also wrote a wide range of music; this Christmas song, music for Disney, (Robin Hood (the cartoon) which also featured Pat Butram as the Sheriff of Nottingham) and a Broadway play, Big River.

This isn't really a Carol per se, but I love this new Christmas song. I know, it's a tear jerker sappy one, but I can't help it, I like it anyway!
