Last shot

I just took my last shot this morning.  When I put the needle in the sharp container and pressed the permanent seal - the sound of that click was music to my ears! Each time I treated, I felt as if some piece of me was permanently removed.  This time was the hardest for me; I don't know if it is age, Telaprevir or both.

I hope to spend some time in a quiet place, hiking and just relaxing for a week.  Then - who knows - it's time to get a life!

Eric

That sounds like a plan! Congratulations, you have accomplished so much even during this tx...I mean it. I barely leave my apt, and you have travelled all over the place and helped take care of your mother-in-law. You are amazing. I wish you only the very best...and I pray you will soon hear the words Sustained Viral Response!
Cheers to you, Eric!

I wish you the best. The last shot! I certainly now can relate to the last click of the needle into the Sharps container. I have read your posts and know what a warrior you have been and how much you've been thru.
I pray for you.
Enjoy your life now.

"i was tested for everything i was worth"
"i passed the test" (again)

hey warrior god, can you relate to that?
your multiple rounds have taken you far beyond a doctorate. what does it feel like?
should we call you "superman" now? or how about "nobel prize winner"
hopefully, this war has taught us all things that we could never learn any other way.
im so glad you were able to waltz right through it. (Yikes!!!!!)

remember the horrible post i made a long time ago about spoofing and spam?
your advice convinced me to let it go. thanks.
its surely been one wild adventure around here.
like geterdone said, we may put our weapons down
but we will never forget the experience.

im on my last shot tonight as well, its only a 10% dose.
strangely, these smaller doses still make me pretty sick.
the worst is over. time to recover now.
WOOOOOOOOO  HOOOOOOOOOO

this time, when someone tells us to go jump in a lake
we probably will!!!!!!

Hey, you made it.  That is quite an achievement considering the telaprevir part of the treatment is a S.O.B. I'm hoping for SVR for you.  You are a pioneer,

I guess I didn't realize this was your last shot today.. No wonder you did it before meeting for lunch.. Get it done and over with.. I always did mine late at night as I was going to bed.   Maybe thats why my sleep habits were so bad.   Anyway.. It was great meeting you and your wife today.   Its been a journey for sure.  And I pray that is your last journey down the dragon alley.  And that you slayed everyone of them this time.

It was nice to meet everyone today, and we will definately have to do it again.  I feel bad you were the only one treating and had to make the journey.  But at least it was all highway for you mostly anyway.

Well I have to go finish up my laundry.    Have a restful remaining time of vacation and we all pray you are SVR forever.

Eric,

Wow...!!! You did it. I admit about 15 weeks ago that you were going to find a reason to quit due to your eyes and other challenges but you didn't quit again. I'm selfish in hoping this is SVR for you as I feel strongly that if you SVR then I will too! 8 more to go for me but  that won't be too long. I would like to join you guys for a lunch sometime this summer and celebrate mutual sucesses... I would love to come to the east coast as I haven't been in sooo long.

Something else I noticed about you that I never picked up on before and that you followed a similar career path as I did as a VP of Software is the same as a CTO virtually. But we just sold the company and I've retired at 53. Wasn't my plan but the way it worked out nevertheless. Now I just need to learn to sail and live the good life :->

Anyway, take care enjoy life starting again and keep us posted on the 'come down' and transfer back to reality. Some say its tough others say its so nice. Hope yours is just right!

Take care brother,

Scotty

How wonderful to read your post....but this line amazed me
"it's time to get a life!"
Wow, you make my life look like I'm standing still. You sound so busy, I truly believe you must be operate in overdrive when I'm in neutral or parked.
You have a wonderful life to look forward to, hope the next 6 months will relieve you of any lingering doubt or worry about it....

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and your lovely wife, today at our lunch.  I do so hope that you have a long lasting SVR, you deserve it!   I had a long drive myself.  We had to stop and stretch a few times and I didn't get home from our trip and dropping off my friend until almost 7:30.  I was pretty wiped out and I'm not even treating right now.   If I find out anything on my April 1st appt., that looks like will be coming up for me in the near future, I'll probably put up a post on Medhelp, so if you ever feel like lurking, maybe you'll see what I found out.  I do hope you'll post on here when you get your good news about being SVR in 3 mon. (or 6), whichever you have for your first post viral load.

Eric,
Congratulations! It has been some trying times over the past year especially in the combo treatment at the beginning of TX for you but now it is time to rest before moving forward in a new direction. Stay well!

Cruel, believe or not hr was right you do feel the smallest amount of interferon. Did my last shot Friday also and felt it Saturday but it had dissipated by Sunday morning. Also congrats! on the finish line as well.

Thanks you all for the support.  It certainly has made life much easier for me to have all of you to talk to when things get tough as they do for all of us.

Susan, Dana: I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you as well.  I wish you both the best and I will stay in touch.  My drive home was only an hour, so it wasn't too bad.  I didn't realize people drove so far.  Next time we have to pick a place more centrally located.
