I have this icky feeling that she never expected me to say Yes! 'cause on the weekends...I don't, ya know, make too many plans.... Eh..I'm probably getting paranoid. Jus' gotta let it go...
Awh, sorry to hear your plans fell through. I'm bad at remembering movie titles and I usually don't even remember who was in them usually too,,,,but,, did you ever see that movie with Jim Carey where he is the father of 3 black kids? Its very funny. I think "irene" is in the title? Not sure, but as I said I am bad with remembering movies and stars and all that. Maybe someone will know what movie I am talking about. I guess that wasn't much help but anyhow I thought the movie was really funny.
I'm the same way...can't remember authors, names..period. It's disgusting. I read all the time..and when actually asked who, what? I say I can't remember. I get funny looks! How are you feeling/doing today? I know I'm not alone...but you have been on my mind a whole lot today...prayers are floating up to the heavens on your behalf...yours and Cirqs. If ya wanna talk anytime..I'd like that very much. 484-678-7001
Aren't I the gutsy one..? it will pr'bly get deleted soon. I hope you read this!
"me, myself and I" is the name of the movie. It is funny- well I thought it was. I have your number and will call you.
Forgot to say thanks for your prayers and everyones prayers for that matter. Prayer works because I feel fine - real good as a matter of fact. I'm humming that Al Green song "I Got Joy When I think About What HE's Done For Me." I love that song and I love Al Green's voice too.
My favorite Jim Carrey movie is "Cable Guy". The movie kind of flopped so I guess not overly popular but I thought it a genious dark comedy. Next favorite would be the original Pet Detective.
"Night at the Museum" with Ben Stiller, **** Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Robin Williams. It'll have you rolling! Delete your acquaintance from your phone and invite your real friend over for some popcorn and a movie. Take care.
But did you ever see "Me myself and Irene?" I thought it was really funny. I think I'll rent it again as a matter of fact.
Missed it. What do you think of Jackie Chan? He's the modern day Charlie Chaplin IMO. Some of his early movies like "Legend of the Drunken Master" are pure genius. No special effects, real stunts all done by Chan.
Jim Pleeeeeeeeeeze rent "Me, myself and Irene." I am so curious to see what you think. It might wind up being your favorite Carey movie.
Now get ready for a shock. I have never seen any Jackie Chan movies.I do watch movies once in a while with my husband, but 2 minutes into the movie and I am sound asleep. He always says he turns to ask me something and there I am sound asleep. Thats why if I watch a movie it has to be a comedy, action or a murder mystery. Love stories put me right to sleep in 2 minutes. I know most women love those types of movies but I don't care for them at all.
But Jim I can't wait until you see the Carey movie I mentioned. It is too funny. I'll rent ":Legend of the Drunken Master." I'll sit up when I watch it so I don't fall asleep. Its a pain because I never see an entire movie.
Okay buddy. I am getting sleepy. Take care.
Don't know when, but I promise I'll rent it. "Drunken Master" is not for everyone, so no problem if you fall asleep on it. But if you do rent it, try and get the original in Japanese with English sub titles. Just look at it like marshall arts ballet with a comedic touch. Chan is young in this movie and he does (and I believe choreographs) all his fight scenes. Very creative.
OK - I hate to do this to ANYONE... LMAO!
But My FAVORITE movie was KUNG FU HUSTLE....
I loved it... Totally....
And anything with OWEN WILSON and Jackie Chan in it... You could google them -- but one of them is Shanghai Noon... I forget the other 2.
And --- OMG --- LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE... That's like real life --- OMG - dysfunctional Comedy - hilarious!
If you're into gore and brutality --- at a very very beautiful cinematographic movie --- 300 is really good. Not comedy --- but epic.
But Kung Fu Hustle -- You have to put English subtitles in.... But it was SOOO darn hilarious after you finally got into it that I watched it like 15 times during my TX...
It's like Roger Rabbit meets Jackie Chan meets an insane Bruce Lee -- with a little dance and choreography going on... If you can find it --- get it! LMAO!
I don't know why - but that movie tickled me to no end.

Sorry your acquaintance pooped out on you. I had a so called friend do that to me too many times and I fiinally had to let her go. She always allows her family to change her plans. She cannot follow through and it doesn't even phase her. No backbone.
Teufelhunden: "Night At The Museum" sounds good for the next movie night. Thanks....and I did invite said friend and instead of popcorn, fresh fruit and almonds and some chips. Haven't "seen" you in awhile...how are you feeling/doing post tx? ...and how are the grandkids?
Myown: I'll also try the Jim Carey movie in the near future. Thanks.
Meki: Little Miss Sunshine, hilarious I like...Jackie Chan...not so much. "300"...can't stand gore and brutality...'nough in real life..
jmjm: Normally, I do like foreign movies w/subtitles...but now I can't read them...eyesight is not what it used to be...need a bigger TV!
GrandmaA: Another lesson learned... I hope you are enjoying the long weekend?...and Thanks
A neighbor dropped by last week and brought over a bootleg "Live Free or Die Hard" movie w/Bruce Willis. Not my "cuppa tea," i really didn't pay much attention...but was glad for the some company.
Good night All
Y
ps.. speaking of foreign movies w/subtitles. The last one I saw is called "Water" It began filming in India but due to the content..the production "had" to leave and shoot it in Sri Lanka...they received death threats and much more. It took years to get it on film. It was beautiful..yet tragic and very real. I recommend..especially to the ladies. It's about the caste system in India...about arranged marriages and young widows...
Well you gotta try Kung Fu Hustle --- get past the first 20 minutes... and laugh away!
Meki
(Looneytunes - Roger Rabbit - Kung Fu ---- But not cartoons... LOL!)
I'm so sorry to hear about your letdown....some people don't realize the impact they have on others when they make plans and change them. They are impulsive, and live in the minute and are hard to relate to. Hang in there, there will be other sunsets on other beaches with people more deserving of the time you give them.
I bought Little Miss Sunshine but haven't watched it yet. I have a hard time sitting down and committing to that much time unless there's hot popcorn lots of chocolate, and hours of free time!
Hope you find a movie you enjoy...
Hugs,
Bug
I'm talking young widows....like 10 years old....married off to ould men. It's happening right now. They then become "untouchables" and have to live in nunneries. for the rest of there lives.
Though there are some serious problems here, I pray that this country will get it together before it's too late...cause the USA still has the potential to finally figure out the course of action that must be taken...and greed is not the one I'm talking about. I wish I had the answers.....
Have you ever seen "the Gods must be crazy"? It's a bit odd, but is based on a coke bottle falling from the sky into the desert, found by a bushman tribe and how that bottle effects their lives..you'll either like it or hate it.....
I'm gonna see that movie Water- that is unspeakable that little girls are having their lives ruined like that. My daughter is almost 10 and her biggest worry is whether she'll get a part in the school play- that's how it should be, I think.
Yeah, I agree that this country needs to somehow get it together again. Sometimes I think, I don't get why us humans have to fight amongst ourselves, we're all people and we're ruining the world anyway so ultimately the hman race will probably all meet the same end. Then I hear of horrors like you described in the movie Water and realise... that's one of the reasons we fight. So that we can be free... but I think too much is about greed, not really freedom. I do support our soldiers however- just don't quite get war.
Sorry to hear about your friend letting you down. I had a girlfriend that did that a lot- I was single and desparate for "girls nite out" and she'd plan a big night with clubs, dancing, etc- then call after I was alkl dressed up and tell me she was stying in with her hubby. It truly sux. But you got the right attitude- get a funny movie instead. I'm watching "Running With Scissors" right now- about a boy with a very strange childhood. Funny in a kinda bizarre way- I like bizarre. I hope you enjoy whatever you watch!

Actually, true to my gender, I was pondering what was nestled *in* those pits... (o)(o).
Thanks for checking in over on the other side, Ladybig. I can't quite seem to catch up with you in here. I'm doing pretty well- I've got classes 4 days a week at the local community college now, and life is actually pretty cool. Funny, I get more enjoyment out of life now with several chronic illnesses than I did for the entire 50 years prior. Go figure.
How's the MH deputy handling life post treatment? I do think about you quite a bit, and miss your sense of humor in here. Stay in touch, one way or another, OK?
Bill
You make me laugh! 'Ladybig'....I missed it the first time I read it, then got a good laugh when I slowed down and read it again. Yeah, I was quick to point out the 'bug' slip to you and that word comes up a thousand times on the forum. As in hating the bugs, getting rid ot the bug, dirty little bugs etc. Maybe I should have taken a name like SVR and everyone would want to be like me. I think it's already taken tho...
I'm so glad you're enjoying your classes and life is good. I think that's what happens to people our age. We finally find out how to feel comfortable in our own skin and prioritize what's really important. Then again, there are always days that are better than others. I am busy working and am thinking of taking some classes in January. There's an online degree from Texas Tech I was looking into before I started tx. I admire you for still wanting to learn. You have a great mind and I'm sure you'll do well in school. I'm amazed at people who are content and don't want to learn new things. But I'm ignorant in so many areas, I probably amaze others as well.
Hey, please stay in touch...I could just go on and on I'm so comfortable talking to you.
Hugs,
Bug
I'm starting watercolor class in a week. It will be so much fun. I have wanted to do something creative for years. After I feel better (I only have 2 more weeks of tx), I will look for a part time job.
