The 6 month PCR is the point where the treatment meds have supposedly lost their grip on your immune system and the hep C has the highest chance of showing a relapse in that time...The one year is when, the meds have been for sure purged from your system, your immune system has usually had one good challenge "test"(e.g. fighting off a virus or bacterial infection) and shows if the virus is really dead (it can began to replicate if still alive in undetectable amounts) when the immune system weakens....So, the 6 month PCR is the first "test" for what is going to happen when the effect from the meds have worn off, and the 1 year is the conclusive test for long term SVR..(I think I said that right!).~MM

Why are so many people doing 1 yr. PCR's?  I understand it for peace of mind (and I will have one because I am part of a study) but isn't the 6 month PCR the marker of SVR?

BTW, congratulations!
