This was the best Christmas present

This may relate to some of you.
All of my kids are grown and off making lives of their own.
Of course as parents we have to let go but can’t help but worry about them and it probably hurts us more than them, when life deals them a bad hand.
In this fast paced world we live in, they visit when they can.
This is the first year we have put up a Christmas tree in a few years.
I often wish I could go back in time, even for just a moment.
Last Night It Happened.
I had a short dream but it was enough. I dreamt it was Christmas Morning and I all of my kids were small children again. In there pajamas running, laughing, and opening presents. It was a short dream but is was so real. I am not a very emotional man but I have a lump in my throat as I am typing this. This was the best Christmas present that I can ever remember getting.

Brent...how great was that!!  What a surprise! You had a very special Christmas.

Gator....just have to agree on...
she likes to clean up the wrapping paper as she goes along...no fun....

I'll have to post my before & after pics of unwrapping. The mess is fun for a change.

RG...how nice a dream that is. It brought me back to when my children were little...I love to see their little faces light up when they come down stairs on Christmas morning...I also love wading knee deep in wrapping paper after all the gifts were open.

My son has started his own family and now I may have to give up having Christmas here as my daughter in law has been hinting about hosting...but she can't cook like I can...I just have to hold on to my recipes for a few more years....she likes to clean up the wrapping paper as she goes along...no fun....

Brent...What a great Christmas for you!!! did you get pic's .....please post them if you did!

I can relate. My son, his wife and two kids showed up at 4 AM on Christmas morning. They had said that they would not make the trip from Arizona this year but surprised us by showing up.  It was a real treat and a great surprise to see my new grandson and granddaughter whom I haven't seen for a while!

Ohh how sweet..and true! (will bring a tear to the toughest of men Ricky;)
I am blessed to have my 3 still around so much. They all are still here by here 6-7 am to open gifts, I still hear my youngest hollering 'get up ma', even as they are grown. My house is always full Chritsmas eve & day & I treasure that too. But nothing can ever beat Christmas mornings with them young tho. I'd just wrote that on another site, about treasuring them young.
I often say..."I miss my babies' as I look at others & them. The absolute best years of my life.

Merry Christmas my fellow 2-b-er and tx-er and SVR-er friend...all in the past year!

Priceless is what your dream was...priceless!  Hang on to that feeling.  :)

The best memories I have involve my children at Christmas.  I am very fortunate to have a video of them one particular Christmas when they were about 6, 5 and 3 and they were squealing with delight and giggling and hugging each other and me as they opened their gifts.  I need to go dig that out right now and re-live that day...thanks for memory lane!!

Lovely Deb... Thank you for all your well wishing. Moussa is in Africa. We don't celebrate Xmas, so it's just another normal day for us. But we are rejoicing for everyone who does. I will send you a personal message one of these days. Merry Xmas to you and yours!!!! Much love, Marcia

Hello my Friend...MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!  I do hope you and your beautiful family will celebrate the day together.  This evening my sister, niece [her daughter - now living in So. Calif.] went to "Candlelight Communion", that always makes me 'tear up' for some reason...but it is beautiful.  When we got back, my sis's son, and [pregnant] girlfriend [my sister thinks she's so darn clever - getting the first grandbaby...whatever] came over, we had snacks, and played 'Trivial Pursuit'...are you familiar with that [board] game?...it's fun, but really makes you think!...I won!!!!

Is Moussa home?...will he be for the holidays??  I've been thinking about you, hoping the "wall" is at bay...and you're feeling well.  I spent quite some time last night typing out all the questions/comments for my first visit with my 'treating' doctor.  I will be seeing him Feb. 2nd [instead of January appt.], and anxious to hear what the next step for me will be.  I'm PRAYING that my weight will not keep me from moving forward, and that IF I do start treatment the weight won't be a factor in it NOT working.  I am POSITIVE that my future is bright...and healthy.

I've gotten a couple pages written and some 'notes' jotted down, on that 'novel' I've been kicking around.  I just learned that my cousin won some big writer's award for 2008, for his book called "Blood Island", it sounds sorta good.

This time next year, we'll be celebrating in Nicole's [getting finished] home, she wrote tonight, saying "next year we'll have a 'cozy' visit in her house"...she's getting so excited about it, she and the hubby [Stan] went by the other day, and saw bricks and stonework already up, and since they weren't expecting that to be done, it was very exciting for them. I thank God [literally] that she was 'led' to this young man, he's just the best, her Dad and I just love him.

Well, dear girl...feel well, and have joyous holidays!!  Much Love, Deb

Yes that was a very nice dream. I would love to turn the clock back to those days. While i did have a very nice surprize this year. My one son and his family live in tennessee and my other here in town. So with spouses and familys its very hard to all gather together.

Well this year they all got one over on me, a total surprize. My son from tennessee and his family snuck into town monday night, his wife and my other daughter in law spent monday night and tuesday morning preparing christmas dinner, my wife was in on this. Tuesday afternoon both my sons, my grandsons and their familys all showed up for christmas dinner. While it was just for a few hours as the ones from tennessee had to leave that evening to drive 6 hours to get back home for her family and my other son had to prepare to leave to go to her familys. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

To every one here i truly wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy holiday.

What a wonderful dream to have.  I guess that is why when my family gets together we mostly reminisce about our childhoods and retell the same stories that each of us cherishes the most.  My daughter is still at home but not really there if you know what I mean (on the go all the time).  I wish I too could rewind and go back in time to when she was a little girl and when she grew up she wanted to be 'a circus girl'

Life truly is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Merry Christmas RGlass!
