Go for it life is too short! Besides it will take your mind off of this ridiculous disease and go have some fun.

You might want to check out storage of Harvoni. I read this drug can be kept at room temp below 86 degrees. Sound easy enough to maintain.
If you worry about getting sick on vacation, you likely will. Instead go for the gusto, explore those ruins, or lay poolside on some tropical island. Vacations take all your worry's away.
I say go for it and let the chips fall where they may. You only live once and we have no do overs. Celebrate your new life knowing that 2015 is going to be filled with freedom at last!
Bon Voyage

I'm thinking of doing the same thing myself. I was recently diagnosed with hepc and liver cirrosis. Unable to work, drive or live alone is so isolating. Like being on the outside watching in. Instead of sitting around thinking about how sad my life is I've decided to travel somewhere and try to be as much a part of this world as I can. So yes find somewhere to go even for a few days. Its better than waiting..
Still on treatment spouse has a business trip to Milan, Italy I am going. Pills in my carry on

I didn't think about the heat issue until I say sunru's post. That was being discussed back when I started tx, so when we travelled, I kept the meds (all of ur meds) in a small cooler, with one or two of those stick-in-the-freezer gel packs, depending on how long we would be travelling. Dr okayed it up front, and also said that didn't need to do anything - just don't leave them in a hot car too long. Some places, I tucked all meds into my back pack and took them with me----but didn't carry them around in the hot sun (that is were the small cooler and ice packs came in).
Send us an (email : - ). ) 'postcard' from whereever! You know
" Having wonderful

time. Check the one you mean".
Hey if you feel up to it..I say go for it. Just the thought of being near the beach sounds nice. Sleeping with the sounds of the waves mmm sounds delicious
I would not risk it. The Harvoni is heat sensitive. It needs no fridge but should not be exposed to heat. When I was on tx last Summer I was in DC where it gets very hot and humid there in summer. I was cautioned by NIH to be careful to not let meds in an overheated car, Good news you finally started tx?
The sun would be your only draw back. But other than that....I would go anywhere and everywhere you want. Just keep a list of your medications with you. I bought all the sun gear. Hats, shirts, pants and sun block and hiked, road bikes, walked and traveled everywhere. Don't let this stop you from doing the things you love.
I meant 'sun is NOT a no-no, is it? Ssshhhh! I can't evenblame that on spell check! Pat
Hi, Linda. First, a medical disclaimer [ : -) ]: I am not a Dr or at all in the medical field. The opinions I express are just that - my opinions.
Been there, done that. Since retirement, we have been taking 'big' trips - making up for all the times we didn't travel while working. When I went on tx last year, we stopped as we didn't know what to expect. After a few month, we were getting 'cabin fever' so planned a short, trip to see family, about 7 hrs away.
It felt like a big adventure (or we made it that way?), driving half way, staying overnight, and finishing the next day, stayed 3 days and came home.
It was successful, and we really enjoyed it, so in November, did it again, going cross state (about 3 1/2 hrs away) to a condo on the Gulf. Loved it and had a great time!
The first trip was in a very 'protected' environment (family everywhere, Drs and hospitals available if any problems, etc). The second more like you have in mind. NO problems, because we took it easy. We did some sightseeing on the second trip, walked on the beach each day and rested.
It was better than a dose of medicine! : -)
GO FOR IT, and have a great time! Plan rest time, don't overdo, rest, walk on the beach, enjoy the sun. Just plan carefully your travel there and back so you don't get overtired, if you get fatigued. All our trips have been by auto, so we could just stop if necessary, get a hotel and rest. IF you plan to fly, make the first trip a short one, as a test trip.
Soak up some sun and enjoy the warm waters - just don't OD on all that Vitamin D from too much sunshine! : - ), : -), : -).
(Sun is a no-no on this med is it?)
