wow good for you! my doc told me before tx that the meds could reverse some signs of damage... but i never had a biopsy done and don't want to.
good luck everyone!
I believe the biopsy was the knodell (HAI).
That is totally fricking AWESOME! I wish I had had the guts to get a post tx biopsy but I just chickend out (even knowing that it's not painful it's still a big drag!)
Maybe it will encourage other people to do it too and then we can really get a good sense of how much liver regression really happens.
VERY VERY happy for you what wonderful news..........take care of that liver and now watch it go straight back to zero damage :)
I sure hope so!
Your results are very encouraging for all of us...thanks for sharing...do you know what scale your biopsy was graded on?...
Thanks for sharing this with us. It is very encouraging and a living proof of what some doctors are saying.
Congratulations!!!!
Great news!!! Congrats!!!

That's amazing! Great news! You're biopsy now is about what my first one (this year) shows and my dr says that's good! The best to you!
Sounds like a well thought out plan Dale. The frijole woman is right - as long as folks keep crappin they'll need plumbers...
Frijole - But could dancing on the front lawn nekkid cause an oil flow, that there is the question. Hey, what about the Clampetts? Ol' Jed sure owned his oil rights. And what ever happened to Ellie-mae?
Fldude - A major congrats on the platelets...looks like you're putting plumbers out of work son... Mine have been bouncy - and currenly bouncing the wrong way. We'll see what the next check brings.... whites have slipped in and out of normal though. Yours?
The world will always need plumbers! Cheer up. Good things will come. If you are just recently done with tx, you are still in the healing process. I think it 's pretty neat that you got that post tx bx. Most people are curious but not willing to go thru the bx risk.
I had one last December and will probably get one in another 3 years unless I tx again in the mean time (even though the hep C PA said I didn't need to). The more information the better, I think.
Good luck on recovery and the job search.

My tx doc wanted me to get it. I wanted to know my liver condition. I was stage 2 and needed to know what was going on for the future. Work has been near depression state in my trade as a plumber. My really awesome insurance may run out soon. I am unemployed right now and wanted to take every advantage of my insurance i could . I really don't know what the future holds for me. Getting the post tx biopsy. Helped put my mind at ease. It is one less thing to worry about. Knowing my liver has improved gives me a sense that tx was really worth it . And i am sure my doctor will share my report with their drug company.

Correction: Post tx biopsy -
My doc wants me to have a post op biopsy if I SVR but maybe not. The risk doesn't bother me, the money does!!
Old home week in this thread.
I was thinking the same as Goof. Even if I wanted a post tx bx (I didn't), I'm not sure if the doc would have gone along with the idea. He'd suggest, since I was svr, that he did not see a medical reason for it. But, if Fibroscan required fewer hoops - well maybe.
In the absence of a bx, labs this week show platelets finally broke into the low end of the range, LDL finally broke above 80 and no one is suggesting a flexible hose anywhere. Thank goodness for small favors.
Well I am glad you put that into perspective. I will think about that next week when I go to Dallas to the hep C clinic to find out about trials.........................
But give me a break Goof - you know I live in West Texas - so there really IS a chance that I could dance nekkid on the front lawn in an oil flow. But, alas, we don't own the minerals under the house.

Congratulations! I'm sure you had your reasons, but for others either SVR or in treatment -- there's generally no reason to risk a biopsy post SVR and there are risks.
Frijole: "My post relapse biopsy was nearly identical to my pre tx biopsy - grade 1 stage 1-2 "
In other words, you're about as likely to die from an oil well erupting under your butt while you're doing the Hokie-Pokie nekkfid on the front lawn as you are from Hep C in the foreseeable future.....

Hey Dale - What was the ratioanle for the post tx biopsy? That seems out of the ordinary..
That's wonderful news, both for you and for those of us following in your footsteps.
Wishing you continued healing and happiness!
Pam
Congratulations. That is a substantial improvement.
To clarify a little, I believe the liver only improves if you clear the virus. If you relapse there is normally not much change. I know this is contrary to what some people say, but I don't think the improvement takes place unless the inflammation stops.
My post relapse biopsy was nearly identical to my pre tx biopsy - grade 1 stage 1-2
Now that is great news! Wish you every well!
