Recurrent penile pain and irritation

Hello, a long story that has been going on for over a year.

After a totally protected encounter in November 201I started to feel some discomfort a day or so later. Went to docs and tested for everything (inc HSV) which came back negative. He said he thought it sounded like a prostate problem.

Anyway discomfort continues fairly consistently and I'm on antibiotics for months. Then I have a bout of flu (fever, throat, congestion) which coincides with a bad case of thrush (which I've had before), got some cream from a pharmacy and this fixes that problem.

A day or two later I get a small red mark (12-13 weeks after the last encounter) on the glans of my penis, which stays there for about 3 weeks, but doesn't really change. The doc didn't see this  (a regret now) but it worried me.

Now to my tests, IGG tests at 14, 19, 25 and 40 weeks all solidly negative for both 1 and 2. However I continue to have pain and irritation at the tip of my penis, a feeling of pain in my lower back and pressure in my groin that fluctuates, occasionally giving me a week or two with no symptoms, but crucially no visible lesions either. I have had pain urinating on occasion and the doc has just said that it's my prostate. I have had a couple of negative swabs during these painful periods too.

I have consulted with a regional STD expert and he maintains that this is not Herpes, I'm just not convinced. Especially with the data on HSV1 testing that Terri Warren quotes. Unfortunately a Western Blot isn't an option from where I'm from, so I'm a bit stuck.

My sexual history is mostly protected sex as in the encounter described above but there has been some unprotected oral too. The pain continues to fluctuate on a weekly basis, but I've been told everything from it's my prostate to it's all in my head.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

My thoughts are I agree with your Dr's as this doesn't suggest hsv at all. Nothing sounds like herpes at all. From the bump to the rest of your symptoms. It's possible you have some nerve damage. Definitely not herpes

That should read November 2015 and the docs busted first testing was after 2 weeks.
