Afraid to transmit...

Hi everyone,
I have been diagnosed with HSV-2 about 4 years ago. I have done a lot of research about it and made my peace with it. I continued my life as if everything was fine, but being more careful about transmiting the condition to any potential partner. And it worked well for years. I have never passed it to anyone. Recently, my now ex girlfriend needed a test for some other reasons and found out she has it as well. I was devastated that I might be the one that gave it to her, although I did everything I could to protect her from it. But then we were thinking, since she had no symptoms at all and she has no outbreaks whatsoever, is it possible that she had it before, just never knew about it? My real question is... I have 7-10 oubreaks per year... Can I infect someone with this strain of virus I have, so that the person has no symptoms and outbreaks at all???
Any insight on this matter is appreciated,
Thanks

I been recently diagnosed with hvs 1 and 2 from what I understand ...there is really no way to tell who gave it to whom unless there was a baseline prior.. Like she was negative before she met you and then she tested positive after.  There just so many various circumstances for these type of mishaps.  If you already told her about your condition and you did all you can to protect her.... That was all you can do! I am so proud that you told her... I wish most of us had the chance to know and make informed decision on the risks.

I am in limbo on my hsv2 stats ( low positive) and promise not have any sexual activities until I am confirmed.  No one should have to go thru this ever

Yes the virus impacts everyone differently, even the exact same strain. Hence there is no indication from this as to whether you were the source or not.

If she didn't test prior to and the after you regarding her status then the infection may have preceded or succeeded you.

Push her hard on the diagnosis though, there are plenty of false positive diagnoses around!
