Both partners have HSV 1

Over the last few days, I had oral sex with my girlfriend.  On the morning of the first, I felt a tingle on my lip with redness and slight inclusions.  Knowing it could be a cold sore, we refrained from further contact.  Within a few hours, I started developing the telltale bumps.  This is my third outbreak in 8 years, and my girlfriend has had HSV 1 since she was a child.  Is it possible to infect someone with genital HSV 1 if both partners have HSV1 orally?

I have a feeling that it isn't very easy to do, if at all possible, but I am concerned about my girlfriend's well-being.

Thank you for your answer.

It can happen but it's very likely not to happen. You've done everything right - you didn't perform oral as soon as you felt the start of a cold sore.  can't do any better than that. Her own hsv1 oral infection gives her significant protection from contracting hsv1 genitally from you  - same with you.
