Possible exposure to bf

I have HSV1and take 500mg of valtrex daily- i have not had an outbreak in over 2 yrs then about 5 days ago i had a small outbreak bc i didnt take my meds due to a lapse in ins coverage. the first day of symptoms i called my doc and she gave me a 7 days worth of samples that i have been taking for 5 days. im worried bc me and my bf had unprotected sex this morning but it seriously  lasted only 30 second if that.  i thought i had pretty much  been healed but then noticed a small spot that hadnt healed all the wya. now im concerned i infected him- what is the likelyhood of infecting him that ONE time in that short of time??

Well as a future recommendation, avoid sex for a full week after you've started with symptoms just to err on the side of caution. Generally antivirals shorten viral shedding but unless your partner has the same type of herpes genitally it's best to be cautious.

Your partner really should get tested to know his own herpes status. You can still get hsv2 yourself so asking partners to always get tested prior to being intimate with them is always the best idea.

Will your partner contract hsv1 genitally from you now? Only time will tell. If he notices any obvious genital symptoms within the next 2-3 weeks he should see his provider promptly.

I take it your hsv1 is genital?

Has your bf been tested to know his own hsv1 status?
