Can i have passed it to my niece

From time to time maybe every six months, i get an outbreak of oral herpes on my lip, i have a niece, and i am very careful around her when i have an outbreak, I never kiss or go near her, however recently i cam to carry her and she hit my lip with her hand accidentally touch my cold sore, i have notice minor redness on the corner of her nose, its red, no blister, my question is could i have passed it on simply through that??? and how can i tell it is herpes, does it display the same characteristics in toddlers as it does in adults, in relation to the various stages like blistering and drying up??

everyone has a sort of outbreak, hard to pinpoint a exact characteristic besides the classical watery blisters. but yes, it's very common for cold sores to have a "dry stage" with a sort of golden/yellow crust.

Thanks for replying to me, Also i wanted to know if you want to determine if you have a herpes sore or not, one of the ways you can tell is that if it goes through a scab, dry crusty stage right before it heals, and if it does not display this characteristic can we safely rule out that it is herpes..that dry stage must be present right??
