your doctor gave you erroneous information about testing for herpes.
the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com has accurate info about testing to refer to.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post :) I saw my doctor again today and had her check me out one more time. She said that it really didn't look like herpes to her and that its probably a yeast infection of the mouth that I, playing with my mouth and then checking my genitals to make sure it wasn't down there too, spread myself.
She also said that a week after contact is enough time to test for herpes because herpes reaches the blood stream about 2 days after initial contact. The only thing she would suggest I wait 4 weeks after contact to test for is HIV.
So the fact that my results said I was negative for HSV-1 and 2 a week and a half after contact, means I'm negative for HSV-1 and 2.
I'm somewhat of a hypochondriac so I'm still convinced I have it. But I'm trying to trust my physician :). I'm going to give it another week before I freak out completely again.
Thanks again :)
Oral sex is a good contributor to genital yeast infections. Be sure to get tested properly for them when you are seen.
Your oral symptoms very well could be oral herpes but it's way too early for a blood test to reflect that. Be sure to be using a good lip moisturizer, plenty out there to chose from -even good ole vaseline is fine.

Thank you. I'm going to try and see my doctor again tomorrow.
It's not only itching. There are what looks like orbits of small white bumps. They look like their own galaxies.
See your doctor. Itching alone can be yeast, bacterial or fungal.
Practice safe sex (including oral) and know your partner's status. It's as easy as that. Better than missing out on a fulfilling sexual relationship with someone you care about, once you get to that point.
btw, I have genital herpes, and I have a son, a partner, and I'm very happy. As are a bazillion other folks with herpes. It's all hooey to think you can't have a partner/spouse, kids or live gleefully if you have herpes. It's nothing more than a pesky skin condition, honey!
When I got my blood taken I was a little itching downstairs but there were no visible bumps or clusters of bumps. My doctor looked in my mouth and said she couldn't see anything that looked like herpes. Today I received the phone call saying everything looked fine but my lips are still burning a bit and my genitals are now stinging all the time and I've found clusters of white spots... They are small and each group of them has about 15, they're not really raised though...?
Did you not get the symptoms examined by your doctor? That's what you should do. A blood test only tells you your herpes status, not what's going on with your symptoms.
btw, herpes does not take promiscuity. One time is all it takes, and oral sex can transmit it as well (that's how I got it...)
Also, oral herpes is not an STD. Folks (and kids) can get it from a big smooch from Auntie.
Genital herpes is what's considered an STD. It's transmitted by genital to genital contact (along with heat/friction) or oral to genital contact.
So my Doctor called today and told me my blood results were all normal and I have nothing to worry about. But these symptoms seem pretty intense to me, anyone else? I got my blood taken 2 weeks after contact with this guy who didn't appear to have any symptoms. Is two weeks too soon for an accurate blood test?
Still freaking.
